Mrs Smith and class 3 have taken part in the 2026 Grow Your Own Potatoes challenge https://growyourownpotatoes.org.uk/

Saujas and Reuben have ensured they are nurtured into maximum growth as part of their Eco Club duties.

Our haul this year was a total of 1.4kg of two potato varieties.
These are going to be made into a potato salad for the class to sample.

Hot Weather ☀️

The weather is forecast to be extremely hot this week. Please ensure your child has applied sun cream before coming to school, brings a named water bottle and wears a sun hat.

You may also wish to provide your child with named sun cream to bring in to school if you think that they may benefit from an additional top up during the school day.

We are happy for children to come to school in PE kits even if it is a non-PE day if that will help to keep them cool.

At lunch times and break times we will encourage children to stay in shaded areas and they will be encouraged to fill up their water bottles at regular intervals during the day.

Any trips of visits going ahead this week will be carefully risk assessed in line with the providers and current guidance.

Thank you for your support.

An online guide for parents.😃

Oral language plays a vital role in children’s learning, literacy and social and emotional development.

Our latest guide supports parents and educators with practical, evidence-informed strategies to help children build school-ready language skills.

The guide explores:
• Building oral language through meaningful interaction
• Supporting listening and attention
• Growing children’s vocabulary
• Sharing stories and naming feelings
• Working with settings to spot and support language needs
• Using evidence-based approaches to meet individual needs

With language developing rapidly between the ages of two and six, early support can make a lasting difference to children’s confidence, communication and readiness for school.

This week we have been celebrating Safety Week and have been learning about a new area of safety each day. Team safe started the week with a fantastic water safety assembly, we are excited to be working towards earning the water smart school award. Take a look at some of our learning and please encourage your children to talk about this at home.

Our fantastic School Council members enjoyed a wonderful afternoon alongside the residents of Bournville House and the BVT to create beautiful hanging baskets for the village. The children showed great teamwork and creativity and the finished baskets will be proudly displayed around the village.

BVT Lightmoor Village

🌸 Have you noticed the beautiful hanging baskets brightening up the village centre? 🌸

We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped create these wonderful displays:

🌼 Mrs Jones and the children from Lightmoor Village Primary School
🌼 Walter and Colin from Morro Partnerships
🌼 Staff and residents of Bournville House
🌼 The BVT Team

Together, they have created a stunning splash of colour that makes the village centre look even more welcoming and vibrant for everyone to enjoy.

It's fantastic to see such great partnership working in action, bringing different generations and organisations together. We know the residents of Bournville House especially enjoy spending time with the children from the primary school, and it's wonderful to see these connections growing within our community.

On behalf of everyone, thank you for your hard work, creativity and community spirit. You've helped make our village an even brighter and more beautiful place to be. 😊🌺
