Workplace and Disputes law practice, Bellevue Law are recruiting for a Finance Manager to join its growing and friendly team.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗱𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲:
🟣 General responsibility for financial operations including line management of the Invoicing Manager and oversight of outsourced Legal Cashiering service.
🟣 Management of billing process including overseeing the work of the Invoicing Manager and fee earners to prepare complex client invoices and narratives (using the firm’s software (“Tessaract”)).
🟣 Management and oversight of supplier and consultant invoices and Accounts Payable function, including ensuring invoices are added to the appropriate nominal or client matter on Tessaract/the Purchase Ledger.
🟣 Responding to queries from the legal cashiering service requesting instructions/authorisation relating to postings, payments and transfers (including in relation to amounts received into the Office Account that should be transferred to the Client Account (and vice versa)).
🟣 Oversight of expenses and disbursements to ensure that the Invoice Manager allocates disbursements to matters appropriately.
🟣 Reviewing invoices from the Firm’s Consultants to ensure they are in line with the Commission Schedule in place for individual matters before they are processed for payment.
🟣 Preparing bi-weekly payment runs for the legal cashiers to process (for suppliers and Consultants).
🟣 Weekly review of the Client Account to confirm weekly transfers to be made to Office for the legal cashiers to process.
🟣 Preparing financial reports for monthly and quarterly review by the Firm’s Management.
🟣 Updating the annual P&L and cashflow projections to reflect actual activity on a monthly basis for Management review.

From Compliance to Confidence: Leading legal finance through change

Legal finance teams are increasingly involved in decisions that reach well beyond the accounts function.
From improving systems and managing risk to creating processes, supporting governance and helping firms respond to change, finance professionals often have a valuable perspective on how the wider business is operating.

Having that expertise is one thing. Making sure it is heard, understood and acted upon can be another.
That is why confidence to influence is an important part of this year’s ILFM Annual Conference.

The programme will explore the changing role of finance teams within law firms and some of the practical challenges that come with greater responsibility and visibility. Rules, regulatory expectations and risk continue to evolve, and for those responsible for legal finance and compliance, keeping up is an important part of the job.

Knowing the rules is essential, but the real challenge often lies in applying them: understanding what they mean in practice, recognising where regulatory attention is shifting and making sound decisions within your own firm.

That is why confidence through knowledge is an important part of this year’s ILFM Annual Conference theme: From Compliance to Confidence: Leading legal finance through change.

Taking place on Wednesday 23 September at The Law Society in London, the conference will bring together regulatory experts, specialist advisers and legal finance professionals to look at some of the issues currently demanding attention across the profession.

Emma Dimbylow, COO at Teal Compliance, will provide an Economic Crime Update, looking at issues including changes to AML supervision, the client money and client account proposals, sanctions expectations and the Failure to Prevent Fraud offence.
