Calling all Law Students – are you interested in becoming the Thomson Reuters Legal Student Representative at Staffordshire University

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
- Encouraging more effective use of Thomson Reuters legal services such as Westlaw UK, eBooks and legal know-how
- Running and promoting training sessions and competitions
- Working with Thomson Reuters, Law Librarians and other key members of staff to schedule hands-on training sessions on campus at your institution

TO BE ELEGIBLE TO APPLY:
- You must be studying a Law degree at the institution you are applying for during the 2018/19 academic year.

FEE:
- We pay our freelance TR Legal Student Representatives a fixed fee of up to £180 per month during term times to deliver
a set number of tasks. We would expect these tasks to take an average of 5 hours per week to complete.

Please register your interest via email (including an email address which can be contacted out of term time) with a CV and cover letter clearly stating your institution to [email protected].

With the new academic year it appears that the University has had some re-organisation on their website. The quickest way I have found to access Westlaw is as follows:

1) From your ‘MyPortal’ page, select the ‘Resources’ tab

2) Select ‘eResources database’, which is on the right hand side under ‘eResources’.

3) Under ‘Browse by subject’, click the link for ‘Law’

4) The link for ‘WestlawUK’ will be available on that page, in alphabetical order. Clicking on ‘WestlawUK’ will then take you to the Athens log-in page, for which you use your student computer log-in.

Our Wednesday drop-in session is running right now in group study room 2 in the Law library till 5pm :) For those who can't make it today, I am also available on Friday from 1:00 till 4:00.

Just to clarify, I will be holding weekly drop-in sessions starting next week in the Law Library from the following times:

3:00pm - 5:00pm on Wednesdays

1:00pm - 4:00pm on Fridays
