The Mathematics Department enjoyed celebrating the pupils listed below, who are our Learners of the Month for June. Congratulations to each for achieving the top mark in their class for the summer exam.

🏃🏻‍♀️ 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽

Huge congratulations to Leah as she competed for the Ulster team at the Tailteann Interprovincial Championship on Saturday in Carlow. We are really proud of how Leah, as a junior athlete, competed with the Ulster team against intermediate level athletes, aged only 14! This was a fantastic opportunity and learning experience for Leah. It was a blazing hot sunny day so a few ice packs were required to keep cool!

She claimed 6th place in the 100m and then a bronze medal in the 4 x 100m relay. The girls were pipped on the line into 3rd by 6 hundredths of a second!

Next up this coming Saturday for Leah is the 100m in the Ireland National Juvenile Championships. Good luck, we are all cheering you all the way!

👨🏻‍🍳 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗽 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝟭𝟭 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗔𝗙𝗥𝗘 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱!

Our Year 11 pupils had a fantastic day out recently visiting the state-of-the-art STEM Food facilities at CAFRE (College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise).

From exploring the science behind food production to learning about the incredible technology shaping the future of the industry, our pupils found the entire experience incredibly interesting and eye-opening. It was brilliant to see them engaging so enthusiastically with the hands-on demonstrations and asking such insightful questions.

A massive shoutout to our pupils, who represented our school flawlessly. Their behaviour was exemplary throughout the trip polite, curious, and thoroughly engaged. We couldn't be prouder of how they conducted themselves!

🏅 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

Ulidia’s 2026 Sports Day was a somewhat different occasion due to our uncharacteristic June weather. With heavy rain forecast for the day, it was decided late on that an alternative inside-outside range of activities would be offered. Pupils from Year 8 to 11, both male and female, competed for points in the following events.

• Shot Put
• Overarm Throw
• Boccia
• Basketball Free throw
• Penalty Kick
• Rugby Kick
• Hockey Shot

It was fantastic to see our students competing collectively for their houses and embracing the day, despite the weather. A massive well done to all our participants!

🌊 𝗔𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗻 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗢 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲

Aidan (Year 11) recently had the fantastic opportunity to visit a NATO Dutch submarine when it docked in Belfast—a truly unique experience for the cadets! What a brilliant opportunity and one he won’t forget anytime soon. Well done, Aidan! ⚓👏

We are incredibly proud of Phoebe (Year 11), who has once again brought honour to Ulidia Integrated College with her outstanding achievements at St John Ambulance. Her dedication, skill, and commitment to helping others are truly inspiring. Well done, Phoebe!

🌍 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁

Our Year 11 Geography students enjoyed an inspiring and informative day at the Geography Association Careers Day hosted at Queen’s University Belfast this week.

The event provided students with valuable opportunities to deepen their geographical knowledge and explore future study and career pathways. Students attended an engaging lecture from Habitat for Humanity on informal settlements, supporting their GCSE Unit 2 studies, as well as a helpful session on “Tips for GCSE Success” delivered by Mrs Henderson, Geography Manager at CCEA.

They also gained insight into university life through presentations from current students at both Queen’s University and Ulster University, learning first-hand about the student experience and opportunities available in higher education.

A highlight of the day was the Geography Careers Fair, where students met representatives from a wide range of organisations across Northern Ireland. The fair showcased the diverse career opportunities linked to Geography and allowed students to engage with professionals from various sectors.

Students were treated to refreshments throughout the day, kindly provided by the Faculty of Engineering & Physical Sciences at Queen’s University. They also enjoyed a guided tour of the campus, including visits to the C.S. Lewis Library, the iconic Lanyon Building, and the Students’ Union, where they had lunch.

We would like to thank the Geographical Association for organising such a worthwhile event and the Faculty of Engineering & Physical Sciences at Queen’s University for their generous hospitality.

Ulidia Integrated College wishes to recruit a talented teacher to join our high performing team to teach Religious Studies to A level throughout the school. The successful candidate will be responsible to the Principal through the Head of Department for the quality of teaching and learning delivered to pupils. The successful candidate may be required to teach outside of the Religious Studies Department on occasion, supporting areas such as Sociology or LLW for example.
