What a day we have had today. They do say good things happen in 3’s.

Congratulations to Natasha who passed her driving test with the perfect 0 driver fault pass.
A fantastic drive and it has been a pleasure to help Natasha with her driving journey.

Here, in Natasha words, is her review of her tuition with us.

“I began learning to drive at 17 in a manual car, and it was a terrible experience, so I gave up. Twenty years later, in September 2023, I started driving lessons again with Lee, this time in an automatic. From the start, I felt at ease with Lee; he’s an incredibly supportive instructor. When I made mistakes, we’d go over them together and discuss ways I could improve in the future. I failed my first test due to a silly mistake, and I’ll be honest, my confidence wavered now and then. But with Lee’s encouragement and friendly approach, I passed my second test today with no minors!

Learning with Lee was the best decision I could have made; it’s truly changed my life. He was understanding of my neurodiversity and genuinely interested in how he could best support my learning. I could go on, but suffice it to say, booking with Freedom Motoring will help you become a confident, competent driver in a supportive learning environment. Thank you Lee!!”

Let celebrate the successes of our learners from last weekend

Congratulations to Claudia who passed her driving test. A fantastic drive resulted in Claudia achieving her goal and be able to enjoy her freedom. Katherine provided the tuition and will miss their lessons.

Ever wondered what happens on your driving test?

Let’s talk about the driving test. After all this will be the last chapter of your driving journey and the start of your freedom.

There are 5 parts to the driving test:
1. An eyesight check
2. Show me, tell me vehicle safety questions
3. Your general driving ability
4. Reversing your vehicle
5. Independent driving

You will be expected to remain safe and controlled throughout your driving test.
The test will last 40 minutes and it is the same for both automatic and manual cars.

For the eyesight check, you will be asked to read a number plate from a distance of:
* 20 metres for vehicles with a new-style number plate
* 20.5 metres for vehicles with an old-style number plate
New-style number plates start with 2 letters followed by 2 numbers, such as AB51 ABC.
If you have any doubts about your eyesight, you can check yourself. Find a parked vehicle to read its plate. 20 metres is roughly 5 car lengths, so pace out the required distance and see if you can read a plate. If in any doubt, go to the opticians for an eye sight check.
You’ll fail your driving test if you fail the eyesight check. However the examiner will try and help you. They have been known to use a yellow plate, if you struggle to read a white plate and vice versa. And they can get out a measuring tape and measure exactly the distance required.

Well it has certainly been a good few months for posting driving test successes. Holidays and test unavailability has been the main issues, with driving tests now currently into the new year. Hopefully this situation will change, though we shall see!

Time to celebrate our last 2 successful learners in time for our return in July.

Congratulations to Edd for passing his driving test at his first attempt. Just a couple of driving faults were picked up during his drive. A great result that allows Edd to be to commute to work and enjoy days out with his family
