We spend a lot of time talking about the importance of reading in schools.

So a few months ago, we introduced Shelf Shuffle in the office, a simple book-sharing initiative where colleagues can leave a book they've enjoyed and pick up a recommendation from someone else.

Since then, it's grown from a handful of books to a shelf packed with colleague favourites, from thrillers and biographies to fantasy and non-fiction.

It's been wonderful to see so many people sharing recommendations, discovering new authors, and helping our Shelf Shuffle community grow.

What's the best book you've read this year?

Only 1 in 3 children now read in their free time, highlighting the importance of keeping reading for pleasure at the heart of education. The recent recommendation for a National Decade of Reading reflects something many educators already know: building a reading culture takes time and sustained effort.

Every day, schools across our Accelerated Reader community help pupils discover books they enjoy, develop confidence as readers and build lifelong reading habits.

Thank you for everything you do to inspire the next generation of readers.
