Let’s talk public speaking 🗯️

Public Speaking is a great way to indulge in your creative side while also practicing crucial writing and speaking skills. ✍️

Its also a GREAT way to develop confidence in young people and get them ready for the future 🙌

Self tapes!
Love them ❤️ or hate them 💔?

Either way they're a part of the acting industry which has increased in popularity and, could be, one of the main ways we audition! 🎭

So, how do you nail a self tape? 🤔

1) PLAIN BACKGROUND AND GOOD LIGHTING 💡
It's amazing how much your environment can actually distract from what you're doing! I recommend a light plain background behind you with either natural daylight OR the use of a ring light to just highlight your face.

2) EYELINE 👁️
When we talk to someone, in order to connect, we look at them! In acting we want to do the same. Either use a real person to read in with you or help with eyeline OR pop a little sticky note somewhere near you and use that as a focal point.

3) KNOW WHAT YOU WANT 💪
Think about the reason your character has spoken. What do they hope to achieve by saying what they need to say? Why did they open their mouth in the first place? Objective is a powerful tool which helps you align yourself with your characters goals and in turn the character themselves.

Today we're talking Drama School! 🎭

Both Lauren and Beck graduated in November from Mountview and so they know just how hard applicants have to work to get in, in the first place!

If you are a young performer or you know a young performer the chances are you've either heard of Drama School or you will soon!

So what is it? 🤔

Drama school is pretty much what it says on the tin: a school which trains actors, directors, stage managers, technical theatre designers and a whole host of other people too!

Drama Schools are some of the most competitive schools to attend with around 1% of performer applicants actually attending the school. Which means- to get in- you need to work hard. 💪

So why not have some help? Coaching is a great way to get someone to look over your pieces, give you a second opinion and offer different ways of looking at your monologues or songs and also, be in your corner during the audition process! 😇
