We must decarbonise transport more quickly, effectively and inclusively to stop the . Here are some things we have learnt since last that can help us do that:

We found that the CO2 released just by building, maintaining and operating roads worsens the UK’s overall emissions burden, meaning for every new or widened road even greater decarbonisation will be required elsewhere https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuHcP9W15_8

We found that e-cargo bikes can revolutionise urban freight, but local authorities must plan for them when designing cycling infrastructure. Bike lanes that accommodate e-Cargo bikes are also more accessible – win win! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaPRq65M-Ag

We now know that e-bikes’ potential to decarbonise transport is greatest in rural and semi-rural areas, rather than cities, because short car journeys are easily replaced by e-bike: https://decarbon8.org.uk/how-e-bikes-can-help-drastically-reduce-carbon-emissions/
