For a long time now, I have been working on a vision for a different kind of education in the Furness area, and now I am looking for the pioneers to help build it.
I am launching a Democratic and Self-Directed Learning Community for ages 11–17. This model serves as a true alternative to mainstream schooling by placing learning directly into the hands of young people, balancing personal freedom and purpose with peer coaching and adult mentorship.
Before the academic year ends, I want to run a small, exclusive pilot to test this model.
Quick Questions and Answers:
• When will it run? 3 mornings per week from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (9 hours total), launching before summer – Provisional start date 29th June.
• What is the cost? It is designed to be much more cost-effective than mainstream alternative provision, coming in at sub £150 per week.
• Who is it for? Youth aged 11–17. This environment is ideal for young people navigating SEMH needs, Autism, PDA, ADHD, Anxiety, and EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance).
• How do we get involved? If you are a parent, carer, or teacher wanting to shape this from the ground up, please get in touch.
