On Wednesday, our Year 6 team represented the school at the Dudley Tag Rugby Finals. After five closely fought league games, they showed great resilience to win both the Conference semi-final and final, finishing 8th overall.
The team demonstrated excellent defence, attack and teamwork, with fantastic tries scored by Chloe, Rocco, Maka, Ruby and Victor. Well done to all players for representing Priory so brilliantly! πŸ‰πŸ‘

✨ Starting Reception – Getting Ready for School: Building relationships and communicating ✨

New skills take time to learn, and practising at home can really help your child settle into Reception feeling happy and confident. At school your child will meet new people and begin to build friendships πŸ’™

Here are some simple ways you can help them get ready at home:

- Practising sharing and taking turns with toys
- Talking about how they are feeling and why
- Looking at story books together and discussing how characters
feel
- Beginning to recognise what others are feeling (e.g. knowing
when a friend is sad)
- Encouraging them to set boundaries (e.g. saying β€œno”)
- Singing songs and nursery rhymes
- Talking about activities, experiences and the world around them
- Asking for help using words (or sign language)
- Recognising their name (e.g. for coat pegs and belongings)
- Paying attention for short periods
- Listening to and following simple instructions
- Keeping going with a task, even when it feels tricky

Small steps at home can make a big difference in helping your child feel confident and ready for school 🌟

πŸ₯— Year 2 Salad Tasting! πŸ₯—
On Wednesday, Year 2 explored a range of fresh salad ingredients as they begin planning their own healthy salads for next week. They were very brave tasters, trying lettuce, tomato, cucumber, cabbage, carrot, radish, sweetcorn, celery and pepper!
There were some clear favourites and a few not-so-popular choices too! πŸ˜„

✨ Starting Reception – Getting Ready for School: Growing Independence ✨

Starting school is an exciting milestone, and it all begins at home! πŸ«πŸ’™ New skills take time to learn. Practising at home will help your child move into school more easily and with confidence.

You can support this by encouraging your child:

β€’ Putting on and taking off their coat and shoes
β€’ Using the toilet and washing their hands
β€’ Getting dressed with little help (e.g. after using the toilet or PE)
β€’ Using cutlery (e.g. fork and spoon) and drinking from an open cup
β€’ Spending time away from you, learning they can be looked after by caring adults
β€’ Taking part in imaginative play (e.g. role play)
β€’ Drawing, painting, colouring and sticking
β€’ Counting, building and doing puzzles
β€’ Sharing story books with caregivers, looking at pictures and talking about the characters
β€’ Exploring the world around them (e.g. looking closely at the natural world, noticing numbers, patterns and shapes, playing safely with objects at home)

Helping your child develop these skills now will make the transition into school smoother and support them to feel proud of what they can do. πŸ’™

🌿 Year 2 at Forest School! 🌿
Year 2 had a fantastic time at Forest School exploring microhabitats as part of their Science learning. The children searched under logs, leaves and stones to discover where minibeasts live, finding woodlice, worms, beetles, spiders and snails! 🐌πŸͺ²
They learned how these habitats provide food, shelter and moisture to help creatures survive. It was a brilliant hands-on experience, and the children were fully engaged throughout! 🌱
