We form & develop bands, offer weekly rehearsals & regular gigs, and professionally record and release music allowing young musicians to retain full copyrights of their songs! Powerjam is an innovative, not-for-profit multi-genre band academy based in Richmond, offering a truly personalised and inclusive experience for young musicians aged 10-18. Each band we form is thoughtfully matched and developed with its own unique sound, songs, and styles tailored to the individual strengths and interests of its members. Unlike most commercial band schools, Powerjam is driven by passion, not by profit, ensuring that every young artist is seen, heard, and supported. We go beyond generic lessons and get our students learning and playing songs, together, from day one. It’s how the greats learned - side by side, listening to each other, growing as a band and as individuals musically and socially, just like in the old school rock and roll days. We bring it back, not just to teach music, but to build confidence, connection, and a genuine love for playing. Open to young people aged 9-18 from all backgrounds and skill levels, Powerjam matches musical applicants into contemporary bands, without selection barriers, provides weekly tutor-led rehearsals, offers regular live performance opportunities at respected venues and festivals, and professionally recording and releasing allowing all young musicians to retain full copyrights of their original songs. From first band sessions to exciting gigs, Powerjam gives young musicians the skills, confidence, and real-world experience to thrive, both on and off the stage.
