Step on Stage Academy of Performing Arts

Last Saturday students aged 5 to 18 performed in our annual Holly and Ivy Concert at St James Church in Hampton Hill. Huge congratulations to everyone involved for a fabulous concert showcasing the talents of our Drama, Music, Dance and Musical Theatre students across the school. We’re super proud of everyone’s achievements. A wonderful selection of traditional carols as well as more modern Christmas favourites and songs from movies were performed alongside poems and readings.

Thank you also to all the parents and friends who helped in the day as well as to the Mayor of Richmond Upon Thames for coming along to support.

Well done to our wonderful students who performed in the Diamond Jubilee Gardens last night for the switch in of the tree with the Mayor of Richmond Upon Thames.
We presented a lovely selection of traditional carols as well as new Christmas songs, some of which we are performing next week at our Holly and Ivy Christmas Concert.

Step On Stage is putting on a youth theatre production of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory at Hampton Hill Theatre from January 9th - 11th.

As part of the show we're creating our own chocolate bars and hiding 5 golden tickets in them. They will be for sale in rehearsals for our cast members as well as on show nights. 50p from the sale of every bar will go to charity as part of our charity fundraising that we do each year. One of our charities this year is the Angel Mums/Tessa Jowell Foundation and we are in the process of choosing our second charity.

We're on the hunt for some lovely raffle prizes and wondered whether there were any local businesses who might be happy to donate a prize for one of the golden tickets.

We will place a 1/4 advert in our A4 full colour programme as a thank you as well as shout outs on social media.

Maitre has just joined Step on Stage to be part of her first production. She is very excited to be part of the cast playing the role of one of Charlie’s grandparents as well as being an Oompa Loompa.

Emily joined SOS to be part of our production of Peter Pan in 2022 and she now attends weekly Musical Theatre classes. Emily loves singing, dance and acting and she is also currently rehearsing Sing Little Cuckoo which will be performed in 2025. In January this year she played the role of Miss Gulch in The Wizard of Oz at Hampton Hill Theatre.

Introducing Catia who is playing the role of Mrs Salt as well as playing numerous ensemble roles. Catia has been a member of SOS for 9 years and is a member of Musical Theatre and Acting classes, Show Choir, Senior Jazz Dance and the Youth Theatre. She has participated in numerous productions for the school including playing the role of the Scarecrow in the 2023 production of The Wizard of Oz. She is currently also playing the lead role of Nelly Bly in Sing Little Cuckoo which will be performed in 2025.

Introducing Deniz who is playing the role of Cherry in our upcoming production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Deniz has been part of SOS for four years and she has been in numerous productions including The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland and Wind In the Willows. She attends weekly MT classes and is also in rehearsal for The Peach Child Momotato and the Addams Family.

Ione joined SOS last year and she is part of our Acting and Musical Theatre class as well as Show Choir. She is currently playing the role of a ghost called Hope in their play, Hope which is being performed next term and written by our Artistic Director

Scarlett has been part of Step On Stage for 10 years and during this time she has been part of numerous productions including playing the role of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz in 2023, Peter Pan, The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe, We will Rock You and she is also in rehearsal for Sing Little Cuckoo and Sister Act.
Scarlett is studying Drama at A Level and attends weekly classes at SOS in Musical Theatre, Acting, Show Choir, Jazz and Tap dance! She is currently working towards her Grade 7 LAMDA exam in Acting.
At SOS she has performed in numerous concerts and showcase as well as Summer Schools and Masterclass workshops and recently sung with the choir at the Royal Windsor Flower Show for the Duchess of Edinburgh and at Windsor Castle.

Rosie has been part of Step On Stage for many years and attends weekly classes in Musical Theatre and Acting as well as our youth theatre and Show Choir. She has performed in several shows including The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, We Will Rock You and is just about to start rehearsing Sister Act with her Advanced Musical Theatre class. She is also working towards her Grade 6 Acting exam.

Lewis joined Step On Stage in 2023 in our Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Summer School. He played Mr Scrumptious and now attends weekly musical Theatre and Acting classes as well as singing lessons. He recently played Gaston in Beauty and The Beast directed by our artistic director He loves playing comic roles and is very much looking forward to playing by the role of Gerry in this production.

E has been with SOS for five years now and attends weekly Musical Theatre classes as well as our holiday workshops and Summer Schools. She loves performing and singing as well as playing music and she is brilliant strong character roles. She is very much looking forward to being part of this production having previously appeared in The Wizard of Oz in 2023 and Peter Pan in 2022.

Larissa joined SOS over two years ago and attends Acting and Musical Theatre classes as well as Show Choir, Jazz dance and our youth theatre. She is super excited to be playing the role of Mrs Gloop having previously played the role of Augustus Gloop.

Jesika has been with Step On Stage for three years having joined to be part of the cast for Peter Pan in 2022. Jesika attends weekly Acting and Musical Theatre classes as well as Jazz dance. She is thrilled to be playing the role of Salt and she is also assisting with choreography on the show as she hopes to become a choreographer.

This is Edith’s second show with Step On Stage having joined to be in the cast of The Wizard of Oz last year. She is very excited to be involved in this production and looks forward to playing the crazy Mrs Green.

Annabel has been part of SOS for 3 years and attends Musical Theatre classes, Show Choir and our award winning youth theatre. Annabel is super excited to be playing the role of Veruca.

Jago has been at SOS. For 6 years and attends weekly Drama and Musical Theatre classes as well as our youth theatre. He is super excited to be playing the fun role of Augustus Gloop. Jago is also performing in a brand new play with Step On Stage called Hope and also just about to start rehearsals for The Addams Family.
