The Mall School

www.themallschool.org.uk Our mission is to create an environment that ignites the love of learning in children, through passion, joy, confidence and happiness.

Situated across two sites on Hampton Road in Twickenham, we are an independent school and nursery for children aged from 6 months to 11 years. We will achieve this by providing a supportive community and place to grow, where everyone has a voice. A place where true potential can be developed, whether it is academic, sporting, musical, dramatic or artistic.

This term our Reception and Year 1 pupils have grown in confidence when cooking. They have developed their independence and skill when using various ingredients and utensils to make a range of delicious food including crumbles, halloumi bakes and just in time for the festive season, Christmas cookies.πŸ˜€πŸͺπŸŽ„

We cannot wait to see what they make next term with Kiddy Cook.😊

Merry Christmas from The Mall!β€πŸŽ…

On the last day of term, we had a special visit from Father Christmas and his elf. It was wonderful to see the smiles on our pupils faces when they met him and revealed what was on their Christmas lists. The festivities continued as it snowed just as our pupils finished the day, which was another fantastic moment for them to share together in the playground.πŸ˜€β„β›„

On the 11 February, we will be hosting an exciting Discovery Day for boys and girls aged 7-9 to join the school in September 2025 in Years 3-5. They will take part in a range of exciting and engaging activities which will give them an insight into the excellent facilities at The Mall, the rigorous curriculum and the enrichment the school offers through its ethos and excellent approach to teaching and learning.

We send children on to the best independent senior and state grammar schools in the area and surrounding counties through our individual attention and time spent on each child. Coupled with our resources, facilities and co-curricular provision, pupils benefit from a broad and strong curriculum, delivered from our long-standing staff.

Parents can join our open morning on the 30 January to witness the school in action, hear from our new Headmaster, Mr Sam Gosden, and meet our Year 6 pupils. Their children can then attend the Discovery Day on the 11 February.

Our teachers go the extra mile to ensure our pupils enjoy achieving excellence. Their personal attention to each child’s progress is unrivalled. This is why The Mall pupils are so well regarded by senior schools. We asked Mr Selby about why he enjoys teaching at The Mall, and this was his response.

"Since joining The Mall in 2022, I have felt very fortunate to work as part of a wonderful team that come together collaboratively to form an inspiring and creative environment for all of our pupils to flourish. This, combined with a thoughtful and caring leadership team and supported by a well-established sense of community, is why I look forward to coming to school each day and helping children to learn."

Thank you to all of our pupils and parents that donated to the Rotary Club Shoebox Scheme. The boxes included gifts for disadvantaged children, teenagers and families in Eastern Europe.

Our school captains and Mr Gosden met with Eva Martin from the charity to donate the shoeboxes on behalf of the school. We are very fortunate to have such generous pupils and families at The Mall.❀

Our teachers go the extra mile to ensure our pupils enjoy achieving excellence. Their personal attention to each child’s progress is unrivalled. This is why The Mall pupils are so well regarded by senior schools. We asked Mrs Singh about why she enjoys her teaching at The Mall, and this was her response.

"Being a maths teacher at The Mall School is a dream come true for me. I’ve always had a deep love for numbers and the way they can explain the world around us. Whether it's the symmetry in a flower or the rhythm of a song, maths is everywhere, and I find that fascinating. Sharing this passion with my students is incredibly fulfilling. Watching their eyes light up when they grasp a new concept or solve a tricky problem is the best part of my day. I strive to inspire my students by showing them how maths is not just a subject, but a powerful tool they can use to understand and shape their world. I hope to instill a lifelong appreciation for the beauty and utility of maths."

Our Story

The Mall is an independent prep school for boys age 4+. We are non-selective for boys who join us at the start of Reception; entry at all other points is subject to a successful assessment, including spending a day with us.

Our mission is to bring out the best in every boy. We believe that all boys have potential and that it is through inspirational teaching, small class sizes and excellent pastoral care that we can develop this potential. Our independence enables us to find the right senior school for every boy and we have an impressive record of success at securing places at, and scholarships to, a range of academically selective senior schools.

In March 2019 we received our first set of 11+ offers. Thirteen boys in Year 6 (40% of the cohort) have been offered 11+ places at Hampton, King’s College Wimbledon, St Paul’s Juniors or Westminster Under School. 30% received offers from a selective state grammar school including 7 boys who were offered places at Tiffin.

Headmaster, David Price, said: β€œWe are extremely proud of all the boys in Year 6. The range of schools that they have been offered places to, in a year when there has been an increased demand for secondary places, is particularly pleasing and I know they are now looking forward to taking on the challenges and opportunities on offer at their senior schools. These results fully endorse the decision we made in 2017 to phase out Years 7 and 8 so that boys should leave the school at the end of Year 6 with the 2019 cohort being the first to do so.”
