Digital Futures Cornwall: building and transforming digital workforce skills for today and tomorrow across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Cornwall has the fastest growing tech sector in the south-west. This is creating an increasing demand for digital skills which cannot currently be met locally. Digital Futures Cornwall is receiving part-funding through the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fu

nd (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/uk-shared-prosperity-fund-prospectus). Bringing together 10 partners led by Truro and Penwith College, to harness that growth and convert it into economic opportunity for the region by developing a pipeline of talent. The project is creating a shared space for all things digital and focusing on providing opportunities for local people currently underrepresented in the tech sector. It also hopes to showcase that, through delivering exciting training programmes and well-paid jobs locally, our vibrant tech sector can raise aspirations and create opportunities. Working with employers to understand current and future needs, Digital Futures Cornwall aims to:
• empower the workforce,
• co-develop blended learning opportunities to create a sustainable pool of skilled professionals,
• encourage new talent via an outreach programme. Digital Futures Cornwall is for anyone aged 16+, living in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly who has the right to work in the UK. This project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Such an incredible morning at The Lost Gardens of Heligan today for Tech Connected with Tech Cornwall and sponsors Cornish Metals.

So many fantastic presentations about all the exciting and innovative things that the brilliant tech sector here in Cornwall are doing.

The focus today was on marine, agricultural and mining with 3deep Media, Farm Carbon Toolkit, The Rock Pool Project and Incredible Oceans, alongside Cornish Metals

But without a shadow of a doubt Jake Shaw-Sutton from Robotriks and his ragwort uprooting robotic dog stole the show!

🌟 Powering People, Growing Talent: Hertzian’s Apprenticeship Success Story 🚀

We love seeing Cornwall’s tech businesses leading the way—especially when it comes to developing people.

Hertzian, an AI company that helps businesses understand customer feedback, has been investing in apprenticeships since the day they launched. And it’s paid off!

Their very first apprentice, Christian, has now grown into the Lead Developer—mentoring the tech team and helping new apprentices follow in his footsteps. ❤️

To make opportunities even more accessible, Hertzian created the Academy of AI, offering:
✨ T Levels
✨ Work placements
✨ Apprenticeships
✨ Real-world experience alongside their expert team

This is what people-powered growth looks like.

📸 How Kay from Flux Studio Powered Up Her People Skills — and Her Bookings! 🚀

Meet Kay Barnes, the creative force behind Studio in West Cornwall.

She’s a videographer, content strategist — and now, thanks to two uplifting workshops with TECWomen CIC, she’s busier than ever!

Here’s how she boosted her business:
🌟 A personal branding masterclass helped her understand LinkedIn and show up with confidence. The result?
➡️ More enquiries
➡️ More visibility
➡️ More bookings!

🌟 A finance brunch for female founders gave Kay clarity around pricing, funding and financial sustainability as a freelancer.
“It’s been lovely chatting to other founders. It helped me feel confident that no question is silly.”

🌟 New skills + new connections = new opportunities
She’s already been booked to cover the Cornwall AI in Education Summit earlier this year!

Kay says:
“Stepping away from the desk to do these workshops has benefitted me so much more than staying at it. I’d encourage any business to Power Up their People.”

☕ Local Success Story: How 108 Coffee Powered Up Their Digital Strategy! 🚀

We’re celebrating 108 Coffee House in Truro, and their amazing digital journey!

After taking time to refurbish their café earlier this year, owners Charlie and Dava wanted to bring customers back through the door. With support from Digital Futures Cornwall, they learned new digital skills and put them straight into action:

💥 A coffee promotion
💥 Their first-ever Facebook advert
💥 A boosted Instagram presence
💥 A new digital loyalty scheme
💥 Better use of customer and sales data

And it worked… REALLY well.
📊 October became their best month of revenue in five years!
