Our modern, climate-controlled studio has Shimpo wheels, handbuilding equipment, storage space, and a friendly community of creative people. Discover handbuilding & surface decoration at Marsh Farm Pottery.

Spend six weeks exploring clay, learning to pinch, coil, slab build and model.

Experiment with form, texture, pattern and colour using tools, slips, oxides and glazes.

Beginners get started with tutor-led projects, while returners develop their own ideas with expert guidance. Five making sessions are followed by a glazing session to finish your pieces.

A little time each week to slow down, enjoy working with your hands and reconnect with your creativity in a friendly, relaxed group.

Tuesdays during term time:
10am–12.30pm or 6.30pm–9pm
Hilperton, Wiltshire

We're a short drive from BoA, Trowvegas, Bath, Frome, Chippenham, Devizes and Warminster and have oodles of free parking too!

BIG NEWS! 🎉 Our studio is now fully climate controlled.

That means heating in the winter, cooling in the summer, and dehumidification for those warm, sticky days — so Marsh Farm Pottery should be a much more comfortable place to make pots all year round. 🙌

It’s been a big investment for the studio, but one we’re really pleased to have made.

A massive shout-out to the brilliant team at RPE Electrical Contracting in Chippenham, who have done such a fantastic job with the installation. The whole process has been incredibly professional, the service has been excellent. They cover industrial electrical work, plumbing and cooling, as well as domestic work, and we’d highly recommend them👌

Here’s to being the right temperature all year round! 🌡️✨

Just had our kiln serviced... we do this every year to keep it in tip-top condition.

I can throughly recommend Mike and his son at Pottechnical. They've been doing our kiln for a couple of years now and they do an excellent job.

They can help with servicing and repairs for pottery kilns, glass kilns and wheels.

Ready to take your throwing to the next level? ✨

If you've mastered the basics and are ready to build on your skills, our Level 2 Throwing courses are the perfect next step.

Led by Bath-based potter , these small-group classes are designed to help you refine your technique, improve consistency and tackle more challenging forms, with plenty of individual guidance along the way.

🗓 Wednesday evenings
⏰ 6.30–9.00 pm
👥 Maximum of 7 students

We've got two courses available:

With such small class sizes, you'll have plenty of time at the wheel and expert tuition to help you progress with confidence.

Matt's back! 🎉

We're delighted to welcome Matt Waite back to Marsh Farm Pottery this winter with two specialist throwing courses designed for improvers who want to take their skills to the next level.

Working in a small group of just 7 students, you'll spend time learning directly from Matt, exploring the forms, techniques and making methods that underpin his work as a production potter. Expect plenty of demonstrations, individual feedback and the opportunity to develop new skills while refining your own throwing.

If you're ready to stretch your throwing, try new techniques and learn from one of the region's most experienced potters, we'd love to have you join us.
