LEVEL UP YOUR THROWING
You've mastered the foundations... now it's time to develop your own style.
Our Levrl 2 Throwing Courses are designed for potters who are already confident with the basics—centring, coning, throwing simple cylinders and bowls, and trimming—and are ready to take the next step.
Unlike a beginner's course, Level 2 isn't about revisiting the fundamentals. Instead, tuition is tailored to the interests and goals of the group, giving you the opportunity to explore more ambitious forms, refine your technical skills, and develop your own creative voice.
Our general 6-week Level 2 Throwing Courses are led by Ryo Sakai, who will adapt tuition to the experience and interests of each group. With a maximum of just 7 students, there's plenty of opportunity for individual guidance and support.
Over six weeks we may explore:
🤎 Vases, bottles, lidded pots, jugs and teapots
🤎 Attachments such as handles and spouts
🤎 Throwing off the hump
🤎 Working with larger amounts of clay
🤎 Sectional throwing
🤎 Specialist trimming techniques and fluting
🤎 Developing your own artistic voice, gesture and an understanding of form
If you're looking to immerse yourself even further, we also offer 6 and 8-week Specialist Masterclasses led by local ceramic artist Matt Waite. These small-group courses focus on Matt's distinctive style, techniques and making processes, giving you the opportunity to learn directly from an established potter while developing your own skills and creative practice.
