Today is , celebrating children’s right to play.

This year’s theme – “here, there, everywhere” – highlights the importance of creating opportunities for children to play wherever they are. In the park, at school, at home, in the woods…

Giving children time and space for unstructured, imaginative play supports wellbeing, boosts happiness and enhances learning.

Slowing down and allowing children to explore and play at their own pace is at the heart of everything we do at Wild Kites.

Here’s to simple, joyful moments that make childhood magic 💛

July was a warm one, but the Wild Kites woods were the place to be!

We kept cool in the shade of the trees, spotting baby frogs, creating beautiful art and spending time together before our summer break ❤️

Nordic braiding was a big hit with our KS3 kids! 🧶

Our brilliant Forest School leader, David, taught the technique and the children ran with it, crafting some truly beautiful creations.

A wonderful mix of calm, hands-on creativity, fine motor skills and independent making.

Nature is moving early this year… 🍃

The hot and dry early summer means we’re seeing changes earlier than usual.

Bramble flowers have already gone, leaving tiny green blackberries behind, the apples are getting bigger by the day and the hazelnuts are already ripening.

We’re watching it all with curiosity and talking with the children about how nature changes year to year.

Home Ed’s out for summer! ☀️

The children have crafted, explored, problem solved, collaborated, connected and created with so much focus and independence.

What a brilliant bunch! It’s a privilege to watch them learn and develop.

We can’t wait to see you all back in the woods in September.

That’s a wrap for Stay & Play until after the summer holidays! 👋

It was our last session of the term today and what an amazing time we’ve had with our littlest explorers and their families.

Thank you to every single visitor for bringing joy, adventure, awe and wonder to our woods.

We can’t wait to see you in the Autumn!

Nature crafts inspired by our love for football and support for England in the World Cup semis tonight! ⚽️

Some children made Union Flags, while others chose rainbows or created their own designs to remind them of Forest School 💚

A lovely mix of child-led creativity and football excitement!

You’re never too old to enjoy bubbles! 🫧

Our KS3 crew were busy making their own bubble blowers last week. A brilliant nature craft that’s so simple…

1) Snip a branch of fresh elder
2) Hollow out the pith with a tent peg
3) Add a small piece of netting over one end
4) Dip in a mix of washing up liquid and water
5) Blow bubbles (and try not to eat them! 😂)
