How AMAZING is this Greek vase made by my learner?!
She made this completely from scratch using a balloon and Modroc! She carefully sculpted the handles, added all the extra details and patiently waited for it to dry before bringing it to life with paint 🎨
She chose the traditional orange and black colours seen on many Ancient Greek vases, adding her own intricate patterns and illustrations 🐈⬛🫒🐟🍥
Fun fact we learnt! The Ancient Greeks didn’t use ordinary black paint to create the designs on their vases. They used a special liquid clay called slip, which turned black and glossy during firing in a kiln. The orange-red colour came from the clay itself 🏺
My learner is naturally SO curious, so this project sparked lots of questions and led us down all sorts of interesting Ancient Greek rabbit holes! I love how one idea can lead to a whole world of learning! 🧡🖤🧡🖤
