Our Year 5 children had a wonderful day in Bovey Tracey yesterday. They spent some time at the MAKE art gallery doing a clay workshop and then some time visiting our partner LAP school, Bovey Tracey Academy. We were made to feel so welcome and it was fantastic to try new things and make new friends. Thank you Torbay Arts in Schools Network for funding this wonderful trip.

We have started our 'After School Clubs' programme this week at Ellacombe Academy. So far, lots of children have been enjoying: chess, drama, football, dance, film-making, narrative adventure, choir and homework club. Still to come are creative cooking, martial arts, painting and craft + contruction! So many opportunities for our pupils to develop new interests and make friends in different year groups. There are still a couple of spaces available if more children want to sign up . . .

Clubs run from 3:00pm - 4:00pm from w/c 21st September until w/c 7th December 2026. Please note there will be no clubs during w/c 19th October due to Parents' Evening.

We LIKE the holidays but we LOVE it when our children are back in school ready to learn! We are all really excited about children returning to Ellacombe and Little Stars tomorrow (FRIDAY 4th SEP) for an 8.30am start. Please remind all your friends that tomorrow is the first day back! KS2 were treated to a fantastic performance of Oliver Twist yesterday!
As well as enjoying the show, pupils took part in an engaging workshop where they discovered the magic behind the production. They learned how scene changes were carried out so quickly, how the lighting and projections helped bring the story to life, and were amazed to find out that the entire performance featured 14 different characters played by just 4 actors! What an inspiring and memorable experience for everyone involved! Thank you to The Learning Academy Partnership and Happy Days Children's Charity for funding this amazing opportunity.

It has been fantastic having our friends from Torquay library and Home Church in this week telling the children all about the activities they have arranged for over the summer break. Please speak to your child's class teacher, or our Family Support Team, if you want to find out more about these local (and free!) events over the upcoming holiday.

Our Ellacombe Reception class and Little Stars Nursery children have had a fantastic time over the last couple of weeks with joint visits to both the beach and Paignton zoo. Thank you to all the parents and carers who came along and joined in with the excitement! We are all definitely ready to move onto our new classes in September . . .

We recently held our 'International Day' at Ellacombe and Little Stars nursery. Across the day, the children had the opportunity to learn some key phrases from different languages, look at some traditional dress, play some different musical instruments and listen to stories from other countries. The most popular part? Trying new foods, of course! A fantastic day of celebration and inclusion.

We had a fantastic careers day at Ellacombe last week. Lots of visitors from different companies and organisations came into school to speak to the children about their jobs and the skills they need to do them successfully. Thank you to all our visitors who inspired our pupils to start to think about perhaps working in engineering, catering, finance, HR, retail, architecture, the police and many more sectors.

We are absolutely delighted to be able to share that our Little Stars Nursery has been shortlisted for a national 'Nursery World' award. Mrs Logan and our team at Little Stars have been working tirelessly to develop a truly incredible provision. We still have a few spaces available for September so if you know any parents/carers of children 2yrs+ who are looking for a nursery place, please encourage them to get in touch so they can bring their 'Little Star' for a visit.

Little Stars Childcare Centre has been named a finalist in the Nursery World Awards after redeveloping its outdoor space and introducing new sensory rooms to support children's learning and wellbeing.
