‘Untitled’ van Anish Kapoor is een ‘echte sculptuur’, een vorm die bevrijd is uit een stuk gesteente. Je ziet de ruwe, onafgewerkte buitenkant, maar ook de ovale binnenruimte, met daarin een volmaakte eivorm. Doordat je ook niet ziet of de eivorm de uitgeholde ruimte raakt lijkt het net alsof hij zweeft. Terwijl de steen toch behoorlijk wat weegt. Hoe zwaar denk je dat de steen is?

'Untitled' by Anish Kapoor is a ‘real sculpture’, a shape liberated from a piece of rock. You can see the rough, unfinished exterior, but also the oval interior, containing a perfect egg shape. Because you also cannot see if the egg shape is touching the hollowed-out space, it appears to be floating. Even though the stone weighs quite a lot. How heavy do you think the stone is?

„Untitled“ von Anish Kapoor ist eine „echte Skulptur“ – eine Form, die aus einem Stück Stein herausgelöst wurde. Man sieht die raue, unbearbeitete Außenseite, aber auch den ovalen Innenraum, in dem sich ein makelloses Ei befindet. Da nicht erkennbar ist, ob das Ei die ausgehöhlte Innenfläche der Skulptur berührt, entsteht der Eindruck, als würde es in der Luft schweben – obwohl der Stein tatsächlich ziemlich schwer ist. Wie schwer schätzt ihr den Stein ein?

The print, Va**um (2000), from Damien Hirst’s Pharmaceutical series, features a circular arrangement of colorful dots creating a dynamic, rhythmic spiral effect. 🔴🟣🟡🟢

Featured in the ‘Science: Life or Death' section of FLOWERS, this arrangement mirrors the seed pattern of a daisy 🌼 and is based on Fermat spirals, as illustrated in Robert Dixon’s True Daisy (1984), which later featured in The Penguin Book of Curious and Interesting Geometry.
