It is ESSENTIAL to know your guitar. There's a lot to a guitar, and each element serves a purpose. Understanding what each component is for and how it impacts the sound and feel of your guitar is just as important as being able to play it.
It took me years to fully realise how seemingly minor adjustments can have a DRASTIC impact on what your guitar is like to play.

A cheap instrument set up well can play great. An expensive instrument set up badly can play terribly.
