Happy New year 2026 to all our wonderful families, we hope you have all had a lovely Christmas, It has been lovely welcoming all our children back into nursery.

January can be a very hard month as we return after a break of rest and no alarms and then have to get back into routine. Physical exercise is proven to help increase energy levels and boosts mood and help children and adults keep active.

On January the 1st Todmorden Nursery along with all the other teams throughout North Halifax Partnership have been set an active January challenge, this is for each team to see if they can get the most steps by the end of January. We would love our parents and children to join us in this challenge to see how many steps we can do as a nursery by the end of January.

In nursery we will be doing lots of physical activities that encourage walking and moving to encourage our children and us to get our steps in and will be encouraging them to count as we go.

If you would like to help us to see how many steps as a nursery we can do by the end of January you could

🚶🏻‍♀️if you walk to nursery encourage your children to walk and count how may steps they do on their way
🚶🏻‍♀️if you go to the park encourage your children to walk and count how many steps they do.
🚶🏻‍♀️on the way round the supermarket encourage your children to count how many steps they do.
🚶🏻‍♀️park on Aldis car park or at the top end of the car park and encourage the children to count the steps into nursery.

We would love our families to send us on Dojo how many steps they have done and send any pictures of their children doing their steps 🚶🏻‍♀️we look forward to seeing how many steps our children are doing and keep an eye out for updates on how many steps we we have managed to accomplish so far 😊
