Michala’s Mini Munchkins

Another wonderful day celebrating another Mini Munchkin turning 3. Today we headed to the Devon Railway Centre and what a fantastic day we’ve all had. 🎈🥳🎂🎁🚂

🦈🐠 As part of our Under the Sea theme today my Mini Munchkins developed their imagination, communication and coordination through hands-on play. 🐙🦀

By diving into an ocean of imagination, they became little ocean explorers by casting their nets and discovering all kinds of "sea life."

Every splash, catch and giggle sparked curiosity, encouraged teamwork and built confidence while creating wonderful memories together. 🐟🫧🎣

🦀🐚🐡🐳WORLD OCEANS DAY 🐳🐙🐚🦀

To celebrate World Oceans Day today we headed to the beach for a wonderful day of exploration. From running into the waves to discovering tiny crabs in the nearby rock pools, every moment sparked excitement, curiosity and laughter.

These hands-on experiences are so important in the early years, giving My Mini Munchkins the opportunity to explore the natural world, develop their physical skills, build language through conversation and learn to care for the environment. Through play and discovery, they are developing their confidence, problem-solving skills and a lifelong appreciation for nature.

A day full of adventure, learning and unforgettable memories by the sea. 🪼

🐞 A Bug-Tastic Day Exploring Mini Beasts! 🐜

After our visit to Knighthayes and spotting some bug hotels, the children were filled with wonder and curiosity about the tiny creatures that share our environment. To build on this interest, we spent today creating our very own bug hotels using recycled items and natural materials that we have collected over the past week.

The children carefully selected and arranged materials to make cosy habitats for mini beasts before painting their own bug decorations to add to their bug hotels. They also enjoyed exploring a wonderful mini beast-themed sensory tray full of exciting early maths opportunities, which had become home to a few snails overnight! 🐌

Throughout the activities, the children worked collaboratively, sharing ideas and resources as they built their bug hotels. They showed kindness and care towards the mini beasts they discovered, helping to develop their social skills, confidence and understanding of the natural world.

The activity provided lots of opportunities for counting, sequencing, creating patterns, comparing sizes and developing language and observation skills. It was fantastic to see the children's creativity, curiosity, enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the day as they learned more about the fascinating world of bugs and insects. 🐌🐞🪲🐛🦋🐝🐜🦗

Areas of Learning:

A beautiful day exploring for my animal loving munchkins. With a visit to RAMM (Royal Albert Memorial Museum) followed by completing the Go wild trail at Princesshay Exeter with each animal having some wonderful facts and brilliant short clips teaching us how to sign each animal in British Sign Language. ❤️

❤️🎂🎈A fantastic morning celebrating one of my mini Munchkins turning 3 by doing one of her favourite things Toddler Town : Pop-Up Role Play 🎈🎂❤️

Our community growing space is looking fantastic (some deweeding for me though😂). The sunflowers, 🌻 strawberries 🍓, sweet peas 🫛, courgettes, celery , tomatoes 🍅 and lettuce 🥬 are doing amazingly. ❤️

Thank you Devon Early Years & Childcare Service for offering these to childminders , my preschool mini munchkins are going to love these!❤️

Another week full of adventures, curiosity and learning through play ended perfectly with a visit to National Trust Knightshayes.🌿

My Mini Munchkins had so much fun completing the Little Explorers Trail and collecting stamps along the way, observing busy bees and enjoying some wonderful outdoor adventures together.

Days like these are such a great reminder that learning happens everywhere — through nature, exploration, conversation and play!🐝🐌🦋🌻
