🚨 House Team Naming Challenge! 🚨

Our school is creating four new House Teams, and who better to help name them than our amazing children?

We'd love families to work together to come up with inspiring, meaningful and creative names. These could be inspired by our local area, school values, famous role models, nature, courage, kindness, aspiration or anything else that reflects what makes our school special.

Children can submit their ideas through their class teacher.

Let's see what fantastic ideas our community can create together! 🌟

Year 4 had a fantastic trip to SeaCity Museum on Monday! 🚢 The children explored the story of the Titanic, listened to survivor accounts, sent Morse code messages and even helped try to stop a model ship from sinking. They loved dressing up as passengers and crew and taking part in hands-on activities. A fun and memorable day full of learning!

🌞 Amber Weather Warning – High Temperatures 🌞

To help keep children safe and comfortable during this week's hot weather:

✅ Children may wear their PE kit to school all week if they prefer.
✅ Classrooms will be kept as cool as possible with blinds, ventilation and air conditioning where available.
✅ Cool flannels in zip-lock bags are permitted.
✅ PE lessons will be adapted to avoid over-exertion.
✅ Outdoor time will be carefully managed, with children encouraged to stay in shaded areas.

Please remember:
🧢 Send your child with a named sun hat.
💧 Send a named water bottle (refills available throughout the day).
☀️ Apply sun cream before school each morning.
👟 Children must wear safe, closed-toe school footwear (no flip-flops, sandals, or Crocs).

We currently plan for after-school clubs to run as normal and will keep families updated if anything changes.

Thank you for your support in helping us keep everyone safe during the hot weather.

On Monday, Year 5 visited Minstead for a fantastic river study trip. The rainy weather certainly didn’t dampen their spirits! The children became geographers for the day, measuring the depth, width and flow of the river at different points. They particularly enjoyed standing in the river while taking their measurements and discovered that the narrower the channel, the faster the water flows.
There was a great focus on sketching river maps, with lots of evidence of erosion spotted along the way. The children also loved exploring the river by catching creatures and identifying species using flow charts. Finding mayfly nymphs and freshwater shrimp was especially exciting, as it showed that the river is very clean and has little pollution. It was a brilliant day of hands-on learning and discovery for all.

On Saturday, members of our cheerleading club took part in their very first showcase event at Storm Athletics’ annual Summerfest — a celebration of the season’s achievements for recreational cheerleading and dance teams.
They performed brilliantly in front of family and friends, showing fantastic confidence, teamwork, and enthusiasm throughout their routines. 🌟
We couldn’t be prouder of everything they have accomplished and the dedication they’ve shown along the way.
👏 Well done to everyone involved, you were incredible!

On Tuesday, our Year 1 children enjoyed an exciting day out at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens as part of their Living and Growing Science topic. They impressed the Hillier staff with their fantastic behaviour and enthusiasm throughout the visit. The children spent the day exploring trees and plants through fun, interactive activities, including seed survival challenges and a blindfolded caterpillar trust game. It was a joyful day of discovery, learning and adventure outdoors.
