Off to Their Forever Home 🦆

Yesterday our ducks went to their forever home with one of our wonderful families. The children have absolutely loved watching them grow and helping to care for them over the past few weeks. It has been such a lovely experience for them, and the ducks have brought so much joy to our setting.

We can’t wait to hear how they get on in their new home! 💛

🌼 Our Annual Mother’s Day Breakfast at Nursery 🌼

Yesterday morning we were delighted to welcome our wonderful mums, Nan’s and Grandma’s into nursery for our annual Mother’s Day breakfast. It was such a lovely way to start the day, spending time together and celebrating the amazing people in our lives.

The children enjoyed sharing the morning with their mums and nannies while exploring some beautiful spring-themed activities. There was lots of sensory play with flowers and petals, planting and gardening with soil and seeds, and creative fun with playdough. The children loved getting hands-on, watering plants, touching the soil, and exploring the colours, textures and scents of the flowers.

We were also very excited to welcome Charlotte, who popped in to visit us with her beautiful new baby. It was so lovely to see them both and share such a special morning together.

We feel incredibly grateful to be able to create and share these special moments together at nursery

💛 Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at nursery! 💛

📚✨ World Book Day ✨📚

This week we celebrated World Book Day with lots of story-inspired activities across the nursery. It was also lovely to see everyone’s wonderfully creative costumes, which made the week even more special!

In Babies, the children explored stories such as The Tiger Who Came to Tea and The Gruffalo through sensory play. They enjoyed a Tiger Who Came to Tea tray with tea bags, water and cups, as well as a Gruffalo crumble tray where they explored different characters and textures.

In Preschool, the children took part in a variety of story-themed activities. They explored a Goldilocks tray with oats and different sized bowls, talking about size and whether the porridge was too hot, too cold, or just right. They also enjoyed a Superworm spaghetti tray with soil and tweezers, where the children had fun digging and using the tweezers to explore.

It has been a lovely week encouraging a love of stories, creativity and learning through play. 📖✨

🦆 Egg-citing News! 🥚

With the start of spring, we have been looking after some very special visitors in nursery — our duck eggs!

Two of the eggs hatched yesterday, and the children were so excited to watch the ducklings arrive.

The children helped name them Hettie and Dotty. Dotty got her name because she has a little dot on her back, which the children spotted straight away.

The children have loved watching them chirp, rest and have little waddles around their brooder. We can’t wait to see Hettie and Dotty grow over the next few days! 🐣✨

We love February at nursery! This month we have been busy celebrating together through lots of hands-on, sensory play.

For Valentine’s Day, the children explored love and kindness through playdough and tipping and filling activities. They enjoyed moulding heart shapes and developing their fine motor skills as they scooped, poured and explored different textures.

On Pancake Day, we shared delicious pancakes together and explored a sensory tray filled with flour. The children loved feeling the different textures, making marks and using their imaginations as they played.

To celebrate Chinese New Year, we worked together to create a beautiful cherry blossom picture. The children collaborated carefully, using paint and different techniques to make the blossoms with their finger prints, supporting teamwork and creativity.

It has been a lovely month full of sharing, exploring and learning through play.
