It has been such a fun and busy few days in EYFS. The children have achieved some wonderful writing, amazing maths and joined a live poetry session!

This week Early Years have been reading Katie and the Sunflowers and the children have produced some fabulous writing! 🌻✨Miss Berry was so impressed with their imaginative sentences, including: “The puppy grabbed the dazzling sunflowers.” “The vase wobbled and smashed.” The children worked incredibly hard using exciting vocabulary and adding detail to bring their ideas to life. Well done everyone! 👏📚

In Maths, the children read *Tangram Cat* and explored how shapes can be used to create pictures and patterns. 🔺🟦✨ The children then used tangram shapes to design their own animals. We had a cat, fish, rabbit and even a turtle! 🐱🐟🐰🐢
It was wonderful to see the children using their problem-solving skills, creativity and shape knowledge to make such fantastic creations. Well done everyone! 👏

And there was great excitement when the children joined Trisha from The Poetry Basket for a live poetry session. They loved every moment of it, such wonderful memories and inspiring conversations through poetry. ✨📖

This week marked the final Forest School session of the block for Year 5, and the children finished on a real high! 🌿🔥

The children were fascinated listening to the cheeping coming from the bird box and were excited to watch the blue t**s flying in and out, feeding the chicks and removing waste from the nest.

Our final session was also Fire Day, which the children thoroughly enjoyed. They practised their fire safety skills and had the opportunity to cook delicious Welsh cakes on the open fire. The Welsh cakes were a great success, and everyone enjoyed tasting their freshly cooked treats together around the fire.

Mrs Bennett also treated the children to one of her famous Forest School quizzes, which everyone loved taking part in.

Gardening club were hard at work yesterday clearing the drainage canal down the full length of the playground and in front of the hall doors.

The children demonstrated fantastic teamwork, scooping and clearing the soil from the canal, transporting it to the garden for the plants, clearing lodged stones and bark, replacing all the grates back afterwards and sweeping up to make sure it was tidy. A little group also planted at the front of school.

A fantastic demonstration of making a difference to our school, with respect and trust being shown by the whole group!

📚Class One enjoyed sharing their finished story books with each other. They've been planning and writing them over the last four weeks. As well as Jack and the Beanstalk, 🌱there were so many different alternatives, including Jack and the tree, Felix and the big corn, Maggie and the pea plant and Oliver and the Christmas tree. 🎄

The class then voted as to which class they thought would enjoy reading their stories and Class Three were the winners.

It was delightful to see Class Three children interested in what the younger children had written and extremely respectful of each child as an individual.

Early Years have started learning all about Vincent van Gogh and his famous Sunflowers painting. 🌻

They have enjoyed exploring his artwork and are now beginning to recreate their own beautiful sunflower masterpieces inspired by his work. We can’t wait to see their creativity bloom! 🎨✨

Year 5 enjoyed a relaxing morning last Friday while creating: ‘What Would Jesus Do?’ bracelets after reading parables in RE and learning how Christians make moral
choices by trying to follow the example set by Jesus. Well done Year 5 👏

What an incredible community we have around us 🥰

The Spring Clean event over the weekend was just wonderful - we had an amazing turn out of pupils, parents, grandparents, teachers and governors! Thank you to everyone who gave up their time and worked their socks off to get the projects finished. The children were so excited this morning to see their school looking so smart!
