At Ollie’s Therapeutic Nursery, we are fortunate to work within a truly collaborative multidisciplinary team. This allows us to support the whole child—not just their expressive language, but the essential foundation skills that make language possible.
For our Gestalt Language Processors (GLPs), language development begins long before flexible spoken language emerges. It starts with regulation, attention, sensory integration, and perception. These foundational systems determine how a child notices, processes, stores, and eventually recombines language.
When these foundations are supported, we see:
• Stronger shared attention and engagement
• Increased communicative confidence
• Greater flexibility in language development
• Reduced dysregulation and frustration
As a team, we prioritise co-regulation, predictable routines, sensory-informed practice, and emotionally safe relationships. We recognise that communication grows from connection, safety, and meaningful interaction.

A sprinkle of magic at Ollie's. This half term is all about Fairy Tales. Fairy tales are full of rich vocabulary, repetition and clear story sequences, which help children build understanding, practise new words and learn to retell events in order. The familiar phrases and patterns encourage little voices to join in, boosting confidence and communication skills.

Children in Need at Ollie’s!
We have been supporting Children in Need this year, and our Ollie learners have had a wonderful time getting involved! The children enjoyed decorating their very own Pudsey Bears, using their fine motor skills to glue and paste colourful Pudsey spots. They also explored a range of sensory activities — including sucking and sticking toys — giving them great opportunities for proprioceptive input and hands-on learning.

We have also donated to this amazing cause to support all children who need a helping hand.

We’re so proud of how engaged and enthusiastic everyone has been. Well done, team Ollie’s!

This half term at Ollie’s is all about fairy tales. This week we had a deliciously fun adventure with The Gingerbread Man!
We modelled AAC core words like GO, RUN.
For our gestalt language processors, we added rich, natural scripts such as: “He’s running!”, “ let's catch him!”, “There he goes!” “Uh-oh, trouble coming!”
Messy hands, big smiles, and so much language woven through our play!

Why do so many of our GLP's love Ms. Racheal?

Because many young children, especially Gestalt Language Processors (GLPs) learn language in whole phrases / connected to emotion, rhythm, and real experiences.
Instead of starting with single words like “go” or “more,” they learn meaningful chunks like:
“Let’s go!”, “I want more.”, “All done.”, “Ready, set, go!”, “It’s time to clean up!”
These phrases are powerful because they:
Feel natural and fun to say, they match real emotions and routines , they help children connect with others.

You’ll hear Miss Rachel repeat short, catchy lines again and again ; “Can you say hi?” “We did it!” “All done!” — because she’s modeling functional, meaningful language in context.
