๐ŸŒธWhen we pause and take a few deep breaths before reacting in just about any situation, things usually go better for us. Self regulation is an important skill we all need to learn early in life.

๐ŸŒธTry this breathing technique with your child- Breathe in slowly through the nose to smell the flower and out slowly through the mouth to blow out the candle.

๐ŸŒธDo this 5 times and ask them to notice how their body is feeling now. Maybe their heart is beating slowly and the tight feeling in their tummy has gone?

๐ŸŒธYou could try this at bedtime as a calming way to end the day or if they are feeling worried or anxious.

Today is the start of Children's Mental Health Week, an event dedicated to raising awareness about children and young people's mental health. This year's theme is 'My Voice Matters', and it couldn't be more important that our children are heard. Here are some ideas to begin conversations about Mental Health.

There are free resources available to download so that everyone can take part in Childrenโ€™s Mental Health Week. Take a look and see whatโ€™s available for families and how you can take part:

We have had a lovely day in nursery today. Parents of children starting school in September 2024 joined us to play alongside their children. We also had Lyndsay Ray, a school readiness practitioner, who was there to offer advice on different areas for being ready to go to school, such as sleeping, eating and behaviour. The children enjoyed having their parents in to show them some of the things we get up to when we are at nursery.

We all need to take care of our mental health and the NHS recognise that waiting lists are long and sometimes we need information earlier or would prefer to do it in the comfort of our own home. ๐Ÿก

Thereโ€™s no disputing how integral the digital world has become to modern life ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’ป It can prove difficult for many young people to stay off smart phones, tablets and other devices for a single day โ€“ even one as special as Christmas. In fact, according to a survey by e-commerce platform Groupon, almost 80% of parents and carers would prefer a festive period that's free from technology ๐Ÿ“ด

Going online, of course, is useful for checking in with friends and relations who we canโ€™t be with, or for arranging celebrations โ€“ but if we allow gadgets to dominate our Yuletide break, that precious time could pass in a flash. This , weโ€™ve got suggestions for keeping a handle on device use over the holidays, so your family can be truly together this Christmas.

06/12/2023

Are you having a pre-Christmas clear out?
Weโ€™re always grateful for your old/ unwanted resources/ clothes/ toys.

At the moment weโ€™re particularly short of small toy cars, superhero figures, waterproofs for our willow school days (sizes 2 years through to 8 years), welly boots, hats & scarves ๐Ÿงฃ

We would appreciate anything that youโ€™d be happy to donate.

More than 150 million subscribers worldwide ๐Ÿ“ˆ Disney+ has enjoyed a steady rise in popularity since launching four years ago: the platformโ€™s deep library of treasured old-school animated favourites, modern classics and original series means that it can offer a rich seam of engrossing content that caters for young and not-so-young users alike ๐Ÿ“บ

Of course, a consequence of this approach is the presence of the sort of age-inappropriate material one might not expect to find on the platform, given Disneyโ€™s fabled status as a purveyor of family entertainment. Thereโ€™s useful advice in avoiding this pitfall (and more besides) in this weekโ€™s guide, as Disney+ comes under the microscope.
