Spring Childcare Bishops Hull

Last week, we headed out on a scarecrow walk to spot all the wonderful entries in the competition.
We managed to find quite a few, and the children loved observing each one and chatting about their different characteristics.

Over the weekend, we were delighted to receive a certificate thanking us for taking part in the competition and contributing our own entry! ☺️

What an amazing summer we’ve had!
With all the sunshine, we made the most of the warm weather by spending plenty of time outdoors: playing in the nursery garden, going on walks in our community, and visiting local playgrounds.

Children thrive outside, and outdoor play is one of the best ways to extend their learning. It supports their understanding of the world, builds gross‑motor skills and coordination, encourages sharing and turn‑taking, and offers countless opportunities for exploration and discovery.

On Thursday we celebrated World Elephant Day!

We read the story Elmer, and afterwards the children had so much fun exploring different colours and painting their very own Elmer! 🥰
It was a brilliant opportunity for them to get creative, experiment with colour, and bring the patchwork elephant to life in their own unique way. 🥰

At Spring, we place a strong focus on health and well‑being.
That’s why all our meals are designed in line with the Eat Better, Start Better guidelines.

To help children build healthy habits, we also involve them in preparing some of our meals. These experiences help the children understand where food comes from, how ingredients change when cooked, and support them in building a healthy foundation and skills they can carry with them later in life.

On Thursday was Cycle to Work Day!

A couple of our staff members regularly cycle to work, and it’s no surprise that the children in our setting absolutely love bikes too.

Bike riding offers so many benefits for children: from developing balance and coordination to practising turn‑taking, building confidence, and much more.

Did you know we’re taking part in a scarecrow competition?
Over the past couple of weeks, the children have been busy helping to create our very own scarecrow sheep! They explored different materials such as hay, clothes, cardboard and more to bring their woolly character to life.

Well done, children, and good luck in the competition!

Yesterday was Ice cream day!
To celebrate today, we made ice cream! The children loved smelling the different scents, weighting and mixing the ingredients as well as eating their delicious ice cream at tea time! 😋
