The kids had a fab day today breaking the rules.

They also had a visit from Santa in the school hall.

Very interesting looking adults (teachers, TA's and office staff) dressing up for the festive day.

Christmas lunch was enjoyed by all, festive music, crackers and being served by the staff.

Did I forget to mention two naughty reindeer throwing snowballs at everyone.🤣🤣

Robins PE last Friday saw them carrying on their invasion topic.

They focused on Hockey. They had some great techniques and some great shots.

Buzzards PE last Friday saw them also working hard on catching but they had to work extra hard to keep their teammates out of jail.

Owls PE last Fridays saw them working hard on catching skills whilst being hungry monsters.

Woodies PE last Friday had them working hard with a focus on netball type rules still linking to invasion.

Film night - Friday 2nd Dec

Thank you to our PTFA who organised and gave their time on a Friday night to bring the children together for the film night.

Hot Dogs, Popcorn and Juice added to their enjoyment of watching 'The Polar Express'.

Dodgeball last Thursday at Blackbrook Pavillion.

Year 6 pupils enjoying a Dodgeball Tournament.

With no referees, as well as to have fun, there was an emphasis on them being honest and having good sportsmanship.

They did themselves proud with their balance of competitiveness and fairness.

Well done to all who took part.

Mrs Colombet has been working with Woodies.

This is a message from her.

They have been enjoying writing and introducing themselves to their French penpals.

Their letters should go this weekend and I know that their French counterparts will very much appreciate this anticipated Christmas present!

As part of this term’s Ancient Greek topic, Woodies spent a morning yesterday immersed in Design & Technology activities.

First, they sampled some of the Mediterranean delights Ancient Greeks would have consumed, such as bread, olives, salad vegetables & cheese.

Then, they constructed simple Ancient Greek sandals from leather & cork.

I've also attached some photos from their Greek day as well -

Mrs Phelps said "We are really enjoying researching our Groovy Greek topic and learning all about who they were, how their civilisation developed, the gods they worshipped, where and how they lived, what they ate, etc. We were transported back in time to Ancient Greece for the day, thanks to 'Portals to the Past', who brought this historic era to life"!

They all looked as if they enjoyed both days of activities.

Miss Storey took Gymnastics club last Friday and they were working on the bar.

They practised squat on to bar, forward circles, casts and some back circles as well.

Owls - They were practising their throwing skills to hit cones so they can make a colourful rainbow.

They then played a game where they had to danger run to not get hit by a fire ball.

Miss Storey was impressed with their throwing skills today.

today about whether your child will need a costume and what that should be or whether a costume will be provided for the church service.

Buzzards also loved playing the Pudsey Pie throwing game for PE on Friday, making a den in the hall and working on their throwing skills at the same time.

Buzzards also went outside looking for Pudsey Bear cards hidden around the school.

Woodies PE on Friday was wanting to play the Pudsey den game that they remembered playing when they were in Owls.

They then went outside and carried on their invasion game unit.

Owls loved playing the Pudsey Pie throwing game, for PE on Friday, making a den in the hall and working on their throwing skills at the same time.

Everyone wanted to be Pudsey and get a go to be in the den.

The work experience students played a game with the children 'Pudsey Bear Says'.

Cross Country - Monday 14th November 2022

What a fabulous turnout from a school that had an inset day.

Thank you to the 11 children and parents who turned up for their respective cross country races at Kings College.

They all did amazing!

I was so busy taking photos that I forgot to line them up to start and they started off at the back. My fault for their slower race times, although a few of them did run faster than their last race in September.

Those that didn't, I will take the blame for that.

Apologies for the quality of photos or lack of them. So focused on watching them run that I forget to press the button to take photos.

Please can you start bringing in an 'Odd Sock' for an art project next term.

Please put the sock in a bag with your name on it. These will be kept in the classroom.

Cross country today at Kings College for all those that have signed up.

First race is at 4.15 for year 3/4 and then year 5/6.

Wear appropriate clothing and footwear, it will be muddy and wet.

I've had a phone call this afternoon to say the road is closed going through Kingston St Mary due to a big hole in the road.

You will need to divert through Nailsbourne to get to the school.

Don't panic if you're going to be late picking up your children, they'll be safe here and we'll let them know what's going on if you are late.

If anyone comes across any update on the road situation after you have received this, please let me know and I can update everyone.

Today is Armistice Day and we remember the fallen. 🌺🌺

We have also been thinking about people who are suffering around the world at this time.

Our oldest children created these beautiful pictures and reflected upon the suffering of others.

The whole school had an assembly on Monday and created a 'Perseverance Road'.

The online portal for applications for children to start secondary school in September 2023, or transfer to Upper school, is OPEN.
The closing date is 31 October 2022.
