🌿🏡 Inspiring Young Minds to Shape the Future 🏡🌿

On Monday we were delighted to welcome the Raven Housing workshop to our school, where our children had the exciting opportunity to become future community designers!

The pupils were challenged to create their own ideas for playgrounds and open spaces that could help shape the future of our local area. Their creativity, imagination, and thoughtful ideas were truly inspiring, with designs that included fun play equipment, green spaces, places to relax, and areas where everyone in the community could come together.

It was wonderful to see the children sharing their visions and thinking about how to make our neighbourhood an even better place to live for future generations.

A huge thank you to Raven Housing for delivering such an engaging and interactive workshop and for giving our children the chance to have their voices heard. We can’t wait to see how these fantastic ideas help inspire future community spaces!

Epsom Downs Community School Summer Fair

What an absolutely fantastic Summer Fair we had on Saturday! ☀️🎉

A huge thank you to the Friends of Epsom Downs (our PTA) for organising such a wonderful event and to everyone who came along and helped make the day such a great success. From the games, stalls, inflatable fun, raffle, BBQ, bar and market stalls, there really was something for everyone to enjoy.

We were incredibly lucky with the fabulous weather, which made the day even more special. It was wonderful to see so many families, friends and members of our community coming together, having fun and supporting the event.

A huge thank you to our amazing PTA, dedicated staff, fantastic volunteers, stallholders, everyone who donated raffle prizes, and everyone who gave their time and worked so hard behind the scenes. Your support, enthusiasm and hard work made the day possible.

Thank you once again to everyone who attended and supported our Summer Fair. We hope you had as much fun as we did, and we can’t wait to see you at our next event! 🌞🎈🍔🎟️

ECO SUMMIT

What an inspiring day at the second annual Greensand Multi Academy Trust Eco Summit! 🌍💚

We were incredibly proud to represent our school and share the fantastic work our children have been doing to help protect our planet.

Our display showcased the beautiful David Attenborough posters and booklets created by children from across the school, celebrating his incredible work and inspiring others to care for the natural world. We also brought along our Promise Tree, filled with thoughtful pledges from children and their families about the small changes they can make to help our environment. 🌳💙

Our Year 3 children were excited to share the seed bombs they had made, encouraging everyone to create more habitats for bees, butterflies and other wildlife. 🌼🐝
We also enjoyed playing Environmental Top Trumps, where children discussed and ranked different ways our school could become even more environmentally friendly, sparking lots of great ideas and conversations.

It was wonderful to see children from across the Trust sharing their environmental projects, learning from one another and demonstrating such passion, creativity and determination for a more sustainable future.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising such a fantastic event, and to all the speakers, volunteers and partners who helped make the day such a success. Most importantly, thank you to all the children whose enthusiasm and commitment continue to inspire us every day.

What a week it has been in this hot weather! ☀️🌡️

We are incredibly proud of all our children and staff, who have shown such resilience, positivity, and determination despite the soaring temperatures.

Alongside all the fantastic learning and hard work taking place, we’ve been making sure everyone stays cool and hydrated. There have been plenty of opportunities to enjoy some refreshing fun under the hose, cool down with ice poles, and make the most of the sunshine safely. 💦💦

A huge thank you to our amazing staff for keeping spirits high and to our wonderful children for their enthusiasm and adaptability. We hope everyone continues to stay safe, cool, and hydrated as the hot weather continues! ☀️😊

What a fantastic Year 5 Sleepover we had last night! ⛺🌟

After school, the children set up camp on the school field and enjoyed an evening packed with fun. There were games, a delicious tea, and plenty of excitement as they visited each other’s tents and spent time with their friends.

We were also joined by our wonderful school therapy dog, Ebby, who had a great time joining in the fun and even enjoyed a refreshing ice lolly in the warm weather! 🐶🍦

As night fell, everyone settled down for some well-earned sleep… although not for long in some cases! Our first early risers were awake and ready to start the day at an impressive 4am! 🌅

After breakfast, the children worked together to take down the tents, with a little football squeezed in for good measure! ⚽ They then headed home to enjoy their INSET day after a memorable adventure.

A huge thank you to all the staff who generously gave up their time to make this special event possible. We couldn’t do it without your dedication and support. 💙

Skipping Workshop

Last week our school had a fantastic skipping workshop led by a visiting instructor, and every year group got involved!

From beginners finding their rhythm to more experienced skippers trying out new tricks and routines, there was brilliant energy throughout the day. It was great to see everyone getting active, supporting each other, and challenging themselves to try something new.

A big thank you to our instructor for such an engaging session and for showing us how fun and creative skipping can be as a way to stay fit.

Well done to all students who took part—you made it a day to remember! 👏

This National Volunteers’ Week, we would like to say a huge thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who support our school.

We are incredibly grateful to the Friends of Epsom Downs, our PTA, for the time, energy and dedication they give to helping our school community. Through fundraising, organising events and supporting school initiatives throughout the year, they make a significant difference to the experiences and opportunities available to our pupils.

We would also like to thank the volunteers who generously give their time to come into school and support our children. Whether helping with reading, activities, special events or classroom experiences, your support enriches learning and helps our pupils thrive.

A special thank you goes to our fantastic minibus drivers who enable our students to access educational visits, sporting events and community activities safely. Your commitment helps create opportunities and experiences that our pupils will remember for years to come.

Sunshine, fresh air, and happy animals ☀️🐐🐓🐑

Our school animals have been making the most of the beautiful weather, enjoying lazy naps, grassy snacks, and plenty of outdoor adventures! There’s nothing better than seeing them relaxed and thriving in the sunshine. 🌼💛
