During the summer holidays it is important to keep your children’s mind active. 🧠 With these practical maths activities, they might not even realise they are using maths! 💭
⭐️ Money - set up a ‘shop’ in the kitchen with food and price tags/labels. Give them a budget and encourage them to work out the change mentally. Let them try being shop keeper and customer!
⭐️ Baking & cooking - get your children involved with baking or cooking something yummy and help them with measuring ingredients. For Year 5/6 children, ask them to convert metric measurements into imperial for an extra challenge!
⭐️ Darts - darts is an excellent game for mental (or written) calculations. Start from 301, or an easier number for younger children, and subtract until you hit 0! Fun for all the family!
