Today our Science Department welcomed in the Technical Specialist in Electronics from the University of Manchester, Dr Kane Williams, to introduce our Year 9 students to the world of electronics and engineering! They were give the task of creating a circuit that mimics a traffic light using the instructions provided.

The task exercised their problem solving skills, introducing key concepts around circuitry as well as getting them to think of what careers these areas can lead to!

Our Year 7s had a brilliant day taking part in their World of Work Day with the Salford Foundation!

A massive thank you to all the local businesses and colleges who came into school. It was great having them here to chat with the students about their careers and all the different jobs out there.

The students absolutely loved it and have given us some really lovely feedback. It's definitely given them plenty of food for thought when it comes to what they want to do in the future!

Parents and carers, please take a moment to check that your child has at least two up-to-date emergency contacts recorded with school.

This is an important part of our safeguarding arrangements and helps us ensure we can reach a trusted adult quickly if needed.

Last week, a group of our students visited The Cliff, the historic former Manchester United training ground!

The goal was to get girls back involved in sports, and every single one of them represented Swinton with the utmost respect and enthusiasm!

A huge thank you to the Manchester United Foundation for organising such a brilliant day!
