GCSE Geography Summer Research
Over the summer holidays Year 10 Geographers have produced some excellent work to recap the Alaska case study for cold environments - focusing on challenges and opportunities presented in this fragile environment.

Year 11 have been working hard to complete their coastal landscapes unit - focusing on the coastal processes and the unique landforms they create. The pros and cons of coastal management were also studied with pupil applying their learning in class.

Well done 👏 on your efforts Geographers 🌍

Year 11 researched what life was like in N**i Germany from 1933-39, they had to find out about how girls and boys were treated differently, how the N**is dealt with the economy and how minority groups were persecuted.

** Y10 Geography - Bristol Fieldwork 🌎🤩**
The sun was shining on the geographers last Thursday (19th March) as they visited Bristol to gather data to answer their enquiry question - Has the regeneration of Bristol City Centre been a success?
We carried out environmental quality surveys, pedestrian counts and of course questionnaires around the Harbourside, Temple Quarter and Cabot Circus. We also enjoyed a guided cruise 🚢 (boat trip) around the Harbourside to learn more about its history and changes over time. Well done everyone! A productive day in the sunshine 🌞 🌎

Iceland 2026 🇮🇸 Day 4 update **
We are on our way to the airport. Yesterday’s weather was challenging but we did get to see perhaps Iceland’s most impressive waterfall, Gullfoss (Golden Falls) and visit Iceland’s some of Iceland’s geysers.
On our way back we went to the not so secret lagoon for a swim in the geothermal pool - some brave pupils tried the ice plunge bath - very impressive! 💪The true stars of the day were the Icelandic horses 🐴- they really are tough 💪🤩

Iceland 2026 🇮🇸 Day 3 update **
We finished a very busy day yesterday with visits to two of Icelands most iconic waterfalls - Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss - climbing up the many steps 😮‍💨 to the top of the waterfall and seeing the rainbows 🌈
Today started with some very blustery Icelandic weather - no stopping us though! Everyone wrapped up well and full from breakfast. We stopped off to see a volcanic crater and then on to Þingvellir National Park to see the meeting point of the Eurasian 🇪🇺 and North American 🇺🇸 tectonic plates. Also the meeting point of the first Icelandic Parliament and and the where any naughty Icelanders where drowned 😱- thankfully no one naughty on our trip so we’re safe today 😉

Iceland 2026 🇮🇸 Day 2 - all slept well ready for another busy day of beautiful scenery and stories of trolls 🧌 and elves 🧝‍♀️- we have switched days around due to the weather which changes by the minute!
Early breakfast then off to the Lava Centre to look at the recent tectonic episodes affecting Iceland. Afterwards a very snowy glacier walk! We travelled on towards the South Shore and saw the Black Sand beach, stopping off in the town of Vik for lunch. ❄️ 🌞 🇮🇸

Iceland 2026 🇮🇸 Day 1 update - Spent a few hours in snowy Reykjavík - We stopped off to see the Icelandic President for a cup of tea 😊 …. then onto the harbour to see the whale-watching boats. Had some fun in the city centre and famous rainbow street. Then on to our hotel in Hveragerði -all ready for a good night’s sleep 😴
