Have you got a teacher training interview coming up? Here are our 8 top tips for success!
️⃣ Get a teacher training adviser – they can help you prepare for your interview. Sign up on our website.
️⃣ Read your invite carefully – interview formats can vary so check with the provider if you are unsure.
️⃣ Know what you’re applying for - training programmes differ, and you may have applied to several providers. Check their individual websites and familiarise yourself with the information beforehand so you can refer to it at interview.
️⃣ Do your research – take some time to find out about The Teachers’ Standards, Safeguarding in Schools, and The National Curriculum.
️⃣ Don’t turn up empty-handed – prepare any required documents, supporting materials and teaching resources in advance. Having additional copies readily available will give the impression that you are well-organised.
️⃣ Prepare answers to likely questions. Why do you want to be a teacher? What makes a good lesson? Why do you want to train here? Remember, this is a chance to sell yourself and prove your commitment to the interview panel.
️⃣ Answer questions in full – think back to your prepared answers and ensure that your responses to questions provide the interviewer with a full reply. If you’re unsure how to answer, be honest and tell the interviewer.
️⃣ Communicate effectively – your pronunciation, pace, tone, and pitch will indicate how you might communicate in front of a class.
Good luck and try to enjoy it – your teaching journey is about to begin!
