Celebrating the Collaborative Spirit of St Francis C of E Primary School π€
At St Francis C of E Primary School, we believe in the power of collaboration to enrich the lives of our pupils. Yesterday, 39 of our Year 4, 5 and 6 children had the opportunity to experience this firsthand at the Young Voices concert in Birmingham.Joining forces with pupils and staff from our Maintained Schools Collaboration group, which includes Chiseldon Primary, Oliver Tomkins Juniors and Bishopstone Primary, our pupils came together to showcase their exceptional talents. The energy, teamwork, and sheer joy they displayed on stage were truly inspiring. It was a day filled with music, dance, and a sense of community that extended far beyond the walls of our school. Our pupils learned the value of working together, supporting one another, and celebrating each other's achievements. This collaborative spirit is at the heart of everything we do at St Francis C of E Primary School. We're so proud of our pupils for their dedication, enthusiasm, and for representing our school with such pride. A big thank you to the staff who made this day possible - your guidance and support are invaluable. Here's to many more opportunities for our school community to come together and create unforgettable memories. π
At St Francis C of E Primary School, we believe that art is a powerful tool for self-expression and learning. This week, our pupils had a wonderful discussion during Hot Chocolate Friday, where they shared their passion for the art topics they are currently studying, as well as the artists and techniques they have explored in previous years. It was truly inspiring to hear our pupils confidently using terms like "pastels," "sketching," "water colour," and "sculpture" to describe their artistic experiences. They also demonstrated a deep understanding of various art movements, from Cubism and Impressionism to Pop Art, and were able to discuss the work of renowned artists such as Mondrian, Picasso, Van Gogh, and Monet. This level of engagement and enthusiasm for the arts is a testament to the incredible work our teachers do in fostering a love of creativity and self-expression within our school community. We are so proud of our pupils and the way they embrace the opportunity to explore the world of art and share their knowledge with such passion. If you'd like to learn more about the exciting art projects and activities happening at St Francis C of E Primary School, be sure to visit our website or follow us on social media. We can't wait to see what our talented pupils will create next! ArtEducation
Happy New Year to all our families and local community! Term 3 has started in earnest. Nursery have enjoyed their first woods session this week. Children in Nursery managed their own equipment well and were excited to explore a new area of the school and play in our wonderful forest. Outdoor learning is a very important part of our learning at St Francis and staff were delighted with how enthusiastically the children engaged with it!
Christmas has begun in earnest this week as Nursery children performed their Christmas songs to parents with much confidence. Later in the week Reception children have had the opportunity to share their nativity with their parents and we were delighted that the Bishop of Swindon, Neil Warwick was able to attend this morning's performance too. Children and staff have worked hard to create their performances and we are grateful to them for bringing the Christmas Story to life for us all.
Come and visit our school on Friday 10th December . This is for prospective parents for Reception and Nursery intake 2025. Please contact the school office to book in advance
Swimming, shopping and singing have dominated the school this week! Children and staff have worked brilliantly to accommodate all these exciting events whilst ensuring that learning across the curriculum remains on track - it has been no mean feat.
