We are so lucky to have such a kind and caring site manager . . . . Darren cares passionately about our school and frequently goes above and beyond. This week it was arriving to find he had created beautiful flower pots. Thank you Darren.

Before half term Starling Class joined Tortoise Class to explore some very important pollinators. They worked wonderfully with their partners to create some lovely bee-themed artwork and creations. The children were also warmly welcomed into Tortoise classroom, where they enjoyed playing music, building garages, and supporting the younger members of our community.

Last week, Year Three began the term by exploring Ancient Rome. They discovered that Rome was a vibrant and bustling city at the heart of the Roman Empire. During this exploration, they discovered that mosaics were used to display wealth and status across the entire empire. Inspired by these beautiful artworks, they created their own mosaics using a variety of beans and lentils.

This is a permanent, part-time role (five days a week Monday to Friday ). Hours of work can be discussed at the interview but will be either 6.30am to 9.30am or 3pm to 6pm for a total of 15 hours per week

Flamingo class and Lemur class had a fantastic Dinosaur Day last term filled with exciting activities. The children became young palaeontologists as they carefully excavated dinosaur fossils hidden in flour. They enjoyed drawing colourful dinosaur pictures, listening to dinosaur stories, and learning interesting facts about these amazing prehistoric creatures. The children also created their own fossil prints in clay, exploring how real fossils are formed. Everyone had a wonderful day full of creativity, discovery, and fun!

John McAdam changed the way roads were designed by using layers of rock and stone, helping them become stronger and longer lasting. In Years 1 and 1/2, we made and tested our own chocolate roads to see whether chocolate, chocolate and raisin, or chocolate and biscuit would work best. 🚗🍫

We observed that we could melt the chocolate to change the shape and sturdiness before setting it and testing our roads. The children made some brilliant predictions. Which road do you think was the strongest?🧱

KS1 were brilliant engineers, inspired by our history learning about Isambard Kingdom Brunel and the design of Clifton suspension bridge. We learnt all about suspension bridges, as well as the forces of compression and tension, before moving on to design, make and test our own bridges.

The children showed great curiosity, teamwork and resilience throughout the project, carefully improving their ideas as they went. Keep an eye out for their next inventions!
