Ever wondered who has been nibbling at the leaves and apples in the Unity Garden? Tonight we found out! As staff left school tonight, a beautiful muntjac deer was loving having the Unity Garden all to themselves. They looked right at home so I would imagine this isn’t the first time they’ve been in!

Back in May, eight of our year 6 children competed against 26 other teams in the Swindon Quad Kids. Quad kids is 4 athletics events consisting of 75m sprint, 600m run, standing long jump and vortex throw. Out of the 26 teams we came first and got through to the Swindon and Wiltshire county finals in Dauntsey.
Fast forward to today and our amazing children won the final!! They very proudly brought home a medal each as well as the shield that is already on display in school!
Well done to all of you and we look forward to celebrating you again in front of the rest of the school next week.

On Tuesday the sun was shining and everyone in years 1 and 2 had a great time participating in races to earn points for their team. It was very close but Kielder came out as winners for KS1.
Unfortunately the weather wasn’t so kind to us on Wednesday for KS2. Thank you to those of you who stayed in the rain to watch your child participate! Due to the wet grass we didn’t do the sprint/ relay races. These will be done in PE over the next week by each cohort and their score will be added to the total so far. We will let you know when we have a winner…watch this space!

It was lovely to meet so many families at the new parent meeting this evening and introduce ourselves as the Friends of Shaw Ridge (PTA).
We hope you enjoyed finding out a little more about what we do and how we support the school community.
Whether you're a new parent or have been part of the school for a while, there's always an opportunity to get involved. From volunteering at events to sharing ideas or lending a hand when you can, every contribution makes a real difference.
If you couldn't make it this evening but would like to find out more about FOSR, we'd love to hear from you. Together, we can continue to make our school community a fantastic place for our children! 💙

We had a wonderfully productive morning in the Unity Garden this morning…
🌷 4 new ‘adjective posts’ were placed
🌷 2 x raised beds in the polly tunnel were weeded and re filled
🌷 The poly tunnel was weeded and swept
🌷 The tyre planters at the front of the school were weeded, swept and planted
Thank you to all of our parents and families who generously give their time to volunteer in the Children’s Unity Garden. Your support helps keep the garden thriving and provides our children with valuable opportunities to learn, grow, and connect with nature. The Unity Garden relies on the dedication of volunteers, and every hour contributed makes a meaningful difference. We are truly grateful for your ongoing support and commitment to this special space. 🌱💚
👀 Keep your eyes peeled for our next set of volunteering days!

♻️ A Friendly Reminder About Our Clothing Recycling Bin ♻️
We'd like to remind everyone that this is a textile recycling bin and is only for small bags containing:
✅ Clothing
✅ Towels
✅ Sheets
✅ Blankets
✅ Curtains
✅ Shoes
✅ Sleeping Bags
Please do not place the following items in the bin:
❌ Soiled or wet items
❌ Carpets or rugs
❌ Glass, metal or paper
❌ General household waste
When non-recyclable waste is left in or around the bin, it cannot be recycled and actually costs the school to remove and dispose of it. These are funds that could otherwise be used to support our recycling work and community projects.
We're proud that so many people use the bin correctly and help keep textiles out of landfill. By recycling the right items and disposing of waste responsibly, you're helping us make a positive difference in our community, one bag at a time. 🌍💚
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
