Wrth i'n disgyblion Blwyddyn 9 ddechrau eu taith adref, hoffem ddiolch iddynt am fod yn lysgenhadon gwych i Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr drwy gydol y daith.

O archwilio strydoedd Paris, taith ar Afon Seine a gweld Tŵr Eiffel, i greu atgofion arbennig yn Disneyland Paris, mae wedi bod yn brofiad bythgofiadwy.

Diolch hefyd i'r staff sydd wedi rhoi o'u hamser i wneud y profiadau hyn yn bosibl ac i'r rhieni am eu cefnogaeth.

Rydym yn edrych ymlaen at groesawu pawb adref yn ddiogel ac at glywed am eu hoff atgofion o'r daith.

As our Year 9 students begin their journey home, we'd like to thank them for being outstanding ambassadors for Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr throughout the trip.

From exploring the streets of Paris, cruising along the River Seine and visiting the Eiffel Tower, to creating unforgettable memories at Disneyland Paris, it has been a truly memorable experience.

A huge thank you to the staff who gave up their time to make this trip possible, and to parents for their continued support.

We look forward to welcoming everyone home safely and hearing all about their favourite memories.

👔 School Uniform Reminder - Before the Summer Holidays ☀️

As we approach the end of the school year, we would like to give parents and carers an early reminder of our school uniform expectations before purchasing any new uniform over the summer.

Following extensive consultation with pupils, parents, staff and governors, one message came through very clearly - our school community wanted a consistent approach to the implementation of the school uniform policy.

From September, these expectations will be applied consistently across the school.

The images below clearly show what is acceptable and what will not be permitted from September, including:
✔️ Plain black shoes or trainers only
✔️ Plain black trousers or a black skirt
✔️ Plain black knee-length shorts only after the Easter holidays
❌ No jeans, joggers, Crocs, UGG boots, Converse, or clothing and footwear with prominent logos or colours.

We would greatly appreciate your support in ensuring that all students return in September wearing the correct uniform. This will help us maintain consistency, fairness and a strong sense of pride across our school community.

👔 Atgoffa am Wisg Ysgol – Cyn Gwyliau'r Haf ☀️

Wrth i ni agosáu at ddiwedd y flwyddyn ysgol, hoffwn atgoffa rhieni a gofalwyr am ein disgwyliadau o ran gwisg ysgol cyn i unrhyw wisg newydd gael ei phrynu dros wyliau'r haf.

Yn dilyn ymgynghoriad helaeth â disgyblion, rhieni, staff a llywodraethwyr, roedd un neges yn glir iawn - roedd ein cymuned ysgol yn awyddus am gysondeb wrth weithredu'r polisi gwisg ysgol.

O fis Medi ymlaen, bydd y disgwyliadau hyn yn cael eu gweithredu'n gyson ar draws yr ysgol.

Mae'r delweddau isod yn dangos yn glir beth sy'n dderbyniol a beth na fydd yn cael ei ganiatáu ym mis Medi, gan gynnwys:

✨🏰 Year 9 Make Magical Memories at Disneyland Paris!

Our Year 9 students enjoyed an unforgettable trip to Disneyland Paris, making wonderful memories with friends and staff.

From experiencing world-famous rides to enjoying the spectacular shows and magical atmosphere, the visit was packed with fun, laughter and unforgettable experiences.

A huge thank you to the staff who organised and accompanied the trip, and well done to our students for being outstanding ambassadors for Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr throughout the visit. ✨🏰

Llongyfarchiadau enfawr i’n myfyrwyr anhygoel ar ennill Gwobr Aur yng Nghystadleuaeth Genedlaethol Yr Her Seicoleg Fawr! 🧠🏆

Ymhlith dros 100 o fyfyrwyr o bob cwr o Gymru, y dasg oedd ymchwilio i’r cwestiwn: “Sut all deall y meddwl dynol ein helpu i daclo’r argyfwng hinsawdd?” 🌍

Dyfarnwyd y Wobr Aur i Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr am ddangos:
“Rhagoriaeth wrth ymchwilio i seicoleg y tu hwnt i’r ystafell ddosbarth,” ac am gyflwyniad “eithriadol, creadigol ac arloesol a ddefnyddiodd arbrawf gwyddonol, cysyniadau seicolegol, ymdriniaeth ardderchog o faterion dibynadwyedd a dilysrwydd, a dadansoddiad ymestynnol o ddata casgliadol.”

Yn dilyn eu llwyddiant arbennig yn ennill y cyfan mae'r tim wedi cael eu gwahodd i gyflwyno ffrwyth eu hymchwil yng Nghynhadledd flynyddol y Gymdeithas Seicolegol Brydeinig, Cangen Cymru yn Hydref - tipyn o gamp!

Rydym mor falch o Nia, Isla, Ella, Imogen a Harri am eu gwaith caled, eu hymroddiad a’u llwyddiant arbennig.

A day to remember!

Huge congratulations to our amazing students for winning the Gold Award at the National Great Psychology Challenge! 🧠🏆

Competing alongside over 100 students from across Wales, they investigated the question:
“How can understanding the human mind help us tackle the climate crisis?” 🌍

Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr was awarded the Gold Award for demonstrating:
“Excellence in exploring psychology beyond the classroom,” and for delivering an “outstanding, creative and innovative presentation that incorporated scientific experimentation, psychological concepts, an excellent treatment of reliability and validity, and an extensive analysis of the data collected.”

In recognition of the outstanding quality of their work, the team has been invited to present their research at the British Psychological Society Wales Branch Annual Conference this October - a remarkable honour and a testament to the quality of their research.

We are incredibly proud of Nia, Isla, Ella, Imogen and Harri for their hard work, commitment and outstanding achievement.

🥾 Her Aur wedi'i Choncro! 🌄

Dros y penwythnos, cwblhaodd criw Blwyddyn 12 Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr eu halldaith Gwobr Dug Caeredin Aur, gan gerdded bron i 80km dros bedwar diwrnod drwy dirweddau heriol.

Roedd yr alldaith yn brawf go iawn o wytnwch, annibyniaeth a gwaith tîm. Ar hyd y daith, bu'r disgyblion yn cynllunio llwybrau, yn arwain yn annibynnol ac yn datrys problemau, gan ddangos dyfalbarhad a phenderfyniad arbennig.

Llongyfarchiadau mawr i'r criw am gwblhau her mor anodd a chofiadwy. Mae'n gamp arbennig sy'n adlewyrchu'r ymrwymiad a'r cymeriad y maent wedi'u dangos drwy gydol y profiad. 👏🥾🗺️

🥾 Gold Duke of Edinburgh Challenge Completed! 🌄

Last weekend, Year 12 students from Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr successfully completed their Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition, trekking almost 80km over four days across challenging terrain.

The expedition was a true test of resilience, independence and teamwork. Throughout the journey, the students planned routes, navigated independently and solved problems, demonstrating outstanding determination and perseverance.

Congratulations to the whole team on completing such a demanding and memorable challenge. It's a fantastic achievement and reflects the commitment and character they showed throughout the expedition. 👏🥾🗺️

🗣️ Llais Disgyblion Gŵyr yn y Siambr! 🏛️

Heddiw, cafodd dau gynrychiolydd o Gyngor Ysgol Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr y fraint o gyflwyno syniadau a blaenoriaethau disgyblion o bob rhan o Abertawe yn Siambr y Cyngor.

Fel rhan o Rwydwaith Llais Disgyblion Abertawe, bu Isabella a Jac yn cyflwyno maniffesto ar y cyd i Gyngor Abertawe ac i Gomisiynydd Plant Cymru, Rocio Cifuentes, gan rannu safbwyntiau pobl ifanc ar faterion sy'n bwysig iddynt, gan gynnwys:

🗣️ Gŵyr Pupils Take Their Voice to the Council Chamber! 🏛️

Today, two members of Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr's School Council had the privilege of presenting the views and priorities of young people from across Swansea in the Council Chamber.

As part of the Swansea Pupil Voice Network, Isabella and Jac presented a joint manifesto to Swansea Council and Rocio Cifuentes, the Children's Commissioner for Wales, sharing young people's views on issues that matter most to them, including:
🔹 Feeling safe in the community
🔹 Celebrating diversity and anti-racism
🔹 Barriers to learning
🔹 Mental health and wellbeing
🔹 Protecting the environment
🔹 Accessibility

It was a fantastic opportunity to ensure that young people's voices are heard by decision-makers and to help shape the future of Swansea.

Congratulations to our two representatives for representing Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr with confidence, maturity and pride. 👏

🥾💚 GWYR YN GWNEUD GWAHANIAETH - UN CAM AR Y TRO! 💚🥾

Llongyfarchiadau mawr i'n tîm arbennig o staff a gymerodd ran yn Macmillan Mighty Hike Penrhyn Gŵyr ar ddydd Sadwrn, gan gwblhau naill ai'r hanner marathon neu'r marathon llawn ar hyd un o arfordiroedd harddaf, ond mwyaf heriol, Cymru.

Gan wynebu bryniau serth, pellteroedd hir a'r heriau a ddaw gyda cherdded marathon, dangosodd y tîm benderfyniad, dyfalbarhad ac ysbryd cymunedol arbennig o'r dechrau i'r diwedd.

Cymerwyd pob cam i gefnogi Macmillan Cancer Support, elusen sy'n darparu cymorth hanfodol i bobl sy'n byw gyda chanser a'u teuluoedd.

🥾💚 MAKING A DIFFERENCE - STEP BY STEP! 💚🥾

Huge congratulations to our incredible team of staff who took on the Macmillan Gower Peninsula Mighty Hike on Saturday, challenging themselves over either 13 or 26 miles in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Facing steep climbs, long distances and the physical demands of a marathon hike, the team showed outstanding determination, resilience and teamwork from start to finish.

Every step was taken in support of Macmillan Cancer Support, helping to fund vital care and support for people living with cancer and their families.

We are immensely proud of everyone who took part and the difference they are making for such an important cause. 💚
