Starting school soon? 🎒
The move into school can feel exciting, emotional and sometimes a little overwhelming — especially for children with SEND and their families.
Every child settles in at their own pace, and small steps can make a big difference. Things like visiting the school beforehand, using photos or visual timetables, talking about the new routine, and sharing your child’s needs with staff can all help make the transition feel smoother.
SEND reminder: Transition support can be adapted to suit each child — there’s no one “right” way to prepare.
If your child is starting school soon and you’d like to chat, ask questions or connect with other families, pop along to our SEND Café. We’re here with a cuppa, a listening ear and a friendly space to talk things through. ☕
