For World Book Day we all dressed us as characters and had a farm-tastic day looking at the book 'What the Ladybird Heard'!
The book provided lots of wonderful learning opportunities:
๐ฟCommunication and Language - Copying animal sounds, retelling parts of the story
๐ Personal, Social and Emotional - Understanding why rules are important, pre-school especially had lots of fun pretending to be police and robbers
๐ฟ Physical - Using different tools to paint, developing their grasp and fine motor skills, copying animal movements
๐ Understanding the world - Sharing children's own experiences of farms and exploring different materials such as mud and oats
๐ฟ Maths - Noticing patterns and counting the ladybird's spots
๐ Literacy - Showing an interest in pictures on a page, extending vocabulary using new words from the book
๐ฟExpressive arts and design - Dressing up, using imagination and developing storylines in pretend play
