Getting the allotment ready for winter!
Learners on our Employment Pathway were getting stuck in at the allotment last week, as we started preparing it for the winter months.
They’ve been busy w**ding, harvesting pumpkins, chillies and tomatoes, covering the soil with w**d membrane and getting the beds ready for the colder months.
One of our learners also had the opportunity to use a manual lawn mower for the very first time! A great chance to develop confidence, independence and practical work skills.
And of course, no trip to the allotment would be complete without a little wildlife discovery! Our learners were very excited to find a frog in our pond!
There was lots of teamwork, communication, problem solving, independence and learning new skills throughout the session.
We didn’t quite manage to finish everything, so we’ll be heading back this week to pick up where we left off and get the allotment fully tucked up for winter. 🍂 🌱🎃🐸👩🌾💪
