Let me tell you how Valentines Day works in our household. No cards, as all involve think it's a complete waste of money. One year, many moons ago, husband did produce a card but it's vaguely embarrassing if your romantic gesture is not returned so card giving has never been repeated. As a general rule Cos is too pricey for me. I love the loose shaping and layering of many of their clothes although there's always one too many drop gusset/harem pants styles for my liking, but hey that's only me. However I do baulk at paying £70 for a top or over £100 for a pair of trousers. However the sales in Cos - now they're a different kettle of fish entirely. [ 280 more words ]

As the eternal bargain hunter-outer, over the years I've bagged myself some fabulous sales buys. Top favourites are my Whistles leather midi skirt and randomly a woolly H&M jumper that I brought for a fiver last year. This year's top buy has definitely been an Ilse Jacobsen leather mini skirt that I picked up for £35, originally £130. Great quality, with a waist that actually fits and is comfortable plus the fact that it has pockets. [ 303 more words ]

I think my lack of blogs recently is an indication that squash (be it playing or watching) has officially taken over in this house. One of my New Year's Resolutions is always to calm it on the squash front but much to my husband's distain somehow that resolution has gone out of the window with the first week of January. I counted the other day and I have 12 jumpsuits of various descriptions. Seems rather a lot, even to me, as they are all ones that I'd only wear 'of an evening' so doesn't include the assorted dungarees and boiler suits that I have sitting in the wardrobe. I just find a jumpsuit the easy option for going out dressing, only the one thing to put on, cover a load of flesh so don't even have to de-hair self if pushed for time plus I always find them a really flattering shape. It has now been almost 2 weeks since the sales kicked off and the sole thing I've brought is an oversized, grey cardigan from Gap - and this was even before Christmas, so technically doesn't count. So a client requests a tan leather skirt, any sort of style not fussed, just has to be a tan/brown colour. Easy peasy Mrs White smugly thinks to herself and then goes shopping where she is proved ...... totally wrong. The high street is crawling with black leather skirts of every description but tan leather is few and far between. Been a busy old week and it's interesting (well relatively that is, in the scheme of things) when you look back on outfits worn when you literally haven't given what you're wearing a moments thought. Moving up a price bracket now from my last post which featured camel coats for under £100. Although I've got tonnes of clothes and if I totted up what I've actually spent on my wardrobe I'd probably be ashamed and horrified in equal parts, I'm not actually one for so called investment buys aka expensive clothes.
