This World CP Day, we are celebrating one of our wonderful advocates, Philip Hughes.
Phil is 62 years old and has cerebral palsy. He has shared his incredible life story, which you can watch below, offering a powerful insight into his experiences, achievements and the barriers he has overcome throughout his life.

Phil is an amazing individual who has never allowed his cerebral palsy to hold him back. Alongside his sister, Karen, he has played an important role in a number of local and national campaigns, including contributing to the Learning from Lives and Deaths report and campaigning for a changing place in Sunderland Hospital.

Phil and Karen are truly inspirational people, and it is always a privilege to see them delivering training to health and social care professionals. Hearing Phil share his experiences first-hand really brings home the importance of listening to people with lived experience and understanding the impact that compassionate, inclusive health and social care can have.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Phil and Karen this World CP Day and to recognise the difference they continue to make. 💚

The CBF, along with the National Autistic Society and Learning Disability England, are supporting a study into the evaluation of care (education) and treatment reviews for people with learning disabilities and autistic people (CECiLiA), led by researchers at the University of Birmingham, University of East Anglia, the Tizard Centre at the University of Kent.

As part of the research, the research team are interested in the experience of those involved with, or have taken part in, C(E)TRs.

Everyone is welcome (including non-members) to come and hear from different Learning Disability England members and partners about what is working well and what needs to change...

You’ll inform Learning Disability Englands influencing work locally and nationally and remind each other what needs to happen to make a difference before 2036.
