Another wonderful morning at Echelforde Care Home! 💙

Our fortnightly visits have become something we all look forward to, and today was no exception. The children loved spending time with the residents, making Father’s Day cards, chatting, playing with toys, and sharing lots of smiles and laughter.

It’s always so special to see the friendships and connections that continue to grow with each visit. These experiences help the children develop kindness, confidence, and empathy while bringing joy to everyone involved.

Thank you, as always, to the wonderful residents and staff for welcoming us. We can’t wait to see you again in two weeks! 🥰

⚽️ World Cup Fun! ⚽️

Our World Cup theme continued with a football-themed small world play setup for the children to explore. The children enjoyed moving the players around the pitch, rolling the ball, and talking about what they could see. This encouraged imaginative play, turn-taking, and helped develop their communication and language skills as we introduced football-related words such as goal, ball, player, and pitch.

🍪 For a special treat, the children decorated malted milk biscuits to look like England flags using icing and strawberry laces. This was a great opportunity to develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and creativity while having lots of fun.

Through these activities, the children were developing their communication and language, fine motor skills, understanding of the world, and imaginative play, all linked to our exciting World Cup theme.

⚽️ This week we kicked off our World Cup-themed activities! ⚽️

The children had lots of fun celebrating the start of the tournament through creative and educational activities.

🎨 They designed and coloured their own football shirts.
🏴 They created England flags using red tissue paper collage.
🌍 We also explored different countries taking part in the World Cup by matching flags back together, helping to develop recognition, problem-solving skills, and an understanding of the world around them.

As we looked at the different flags, we practised saying the names of the countries they represent and talked about the different colours we could see, helping to expand the children’s language and vocabulary. The activities also supported communication and language development, colour recognition, fine motor skills, and understanding of the wider world through a fun and engaging theme.

It was wonderful to see the children so engaged, using their creativity while learning about different countries through the exciting theme of football!

Our little caterpillars have reached an exciting milestone — they’re now in their chrysalis stage and have been carefully transferred to the butterfly net 🦋✨

The children have loved observing the changes each day, talking about life cycles, patience, and caring for living things. We can’t wait to see the butterflies emerge soon!

Last Thursday we had a fantastic trip to Hounslow Urban Farm!
The children loved exploring the farm, meeting all the different animals and learning about their habitats. One of the highlights of the day was the animal handling session where they bravely met a tarantula, giant snail, scorpion, lizard and snake!
A wonderful hands-on learning experience full of curiosity, confidence building and lots of smiles 🐍🕷️🐐

🦋 Last Wednesday we had a wonderful time learning all about our new caterpillars! The children were fascinated watching them wriggle and move, and we talked about how they will grow and change into beautiful butterflies. We are so excited to care for them and watch the amazing life cycle happen before our eyes before releasing them into nature.

We also enjoyed a lovely trip to the walled garden, where we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar together before exploring the gardens to see what we could discover. The children loved searching for bugs, flowers, and signs of nature all around us. 🌿🐛🦋

A beautiful day full of curiosity, outdoor learning, and lots of excitement! 💚

🐞🌿 Last Tuesday we headed to Bedfont Lakes Country Park for a mini beast adventure with our friends from Faye’s childminding service

After reading Mad About Minibeasts! together, the children were excited to explore the nature reserve and search for bugs in their natural habitat. Armed with our mini beast checklist, we went on a bug hunt to see what we could spot! 🐜🪲🐌

The children loved looking under logs, searching through the grass, and carefully observing the tiny creatures we found along the way. Outdoor adventures like these are such a wonderful way to encourage curiosity, build confidence, and learn about the world around us through hands-on play and exploration. 🌱✨

A lovely morning full of fresh air, teamwork, discovery, and lots of excitement over our tiny finds! 💚
