🌿 A brilliant final day of Summer Holiday Club! 🌿
What a lovely way to finish our summer sessions at Charlotte’s Wood.
We started the day with a team scavenger hunt around the woods before getting stuck into all sorts of woodland adventures. The new slackline was a big hit, with lots of determination, balance and encouragement for one another!
There was more wonderful fairy and elf play, as well as blackberry foraging. Our freshly picked blackberries were turned into a delicious purée to accompany fruit skewers that the children helped to prepare – woodland food always seems to taste that little bit better!
We finished the day with games followed by a BIG team tidy-up as we packed away Holiday Club for the summer.
A huge thank you to all the children who have joined us. Your enthusiasm, willingness to give everything a try, positive attitudes and fantastic behaviour have made the sessions such a pleasure to run. 💚
And a very big thank you to my fantastic team of helpers – Kim, Teresa, Chris and John – I couldn’t do it without you.
🍂 Wild Wood Holiday Club returns on 26–27 October!

Another magical day at Wild Wood Holiday Club 🌿✨
Today the children discovered the beautiful colours hidden inside fresh flowers as they created their own hapa zome lavender bags before learning how to gently strip and prepare the lavender to fill them.
The woods were soon alive with fairies and elves too, as wooden pegs were transformed into woodland folk who found homes in fairy villages nestled amongst the trees. There was den building, imaginative play and the kind of adventures that only seem to happen outdoors.
It’s always lovely to plan activities for the children, but some of the best moments come from giving them the time, space and freedom to follow their own ideas. Watching their imaginations bring the woodland to life is a reminder that nature provides the very best playground.
Thank you to all our intrepid Wild Wood explorers for another fantastic day. We can’t wait to see what adventures tomorrow brings. 🌿💚

🧸🌳 What a lovely morning we had at our Teddy Bears’ Picnic today!
The woodland was full of little explorers and their teddies as we headed off on our woodland teddy hunt, got creative with some bear-themed crafts and settled down together for a story amongst the trees.
It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the woods – and to see lots of familiar Little Woodies faces too! Thank you to everyone who came along and made the morning so special. We hope you and your teddies had as much fun as we did. 🧸
And if today has left you wanting more woodland adventures, Little Woodies starts back on Friday 4 September. We can’t wait to welcome you back for a new season of playing, exploring and connecting with nature. 🌿

Before we knew it, the woodland was full of smiling faces… on the trees as well as the children! 🌿
Mud play was definitely the order of the day at Wild Wood Holiday Club today.
Armed with nothing more than mud, natural treasures and plenty of imagination, the children transformed our trees with an amazing collection of mud faces. Each one was completely unique, reflecting the creativity and individuality of its maker. It was wonderful to see everyone so absorbed in the process, taking pride in their creations and enjoying the freedom to create in their own way.
A huge thank you to all the children for bringing such positivity, enthusiasm, curiosity and kindness to another fantastic day in the woodland. Days like today remind me just how much can grow from the simplest of activities.
Thank you as well to my brilliant team – Kim, Teresa, Chris and John – for all your hard work, encouragement and support throughout the day. And, of course, thank you to all the parents for trusting us with your children and sharing them with us over the summer holidays.
Just two more Wild Wood Holiday Club days to go next week. I can’t quite believe how quickly the summer is flying by!

Wild Wood Holiday Club – Day 2: Survival Adventure
One group of children headed off on a woodland survival adventure today, putting their teamwork, problem-solving and survival skills to the test.
Their mission began in prison, where they had to work together to crack a secret code and escape. Once they were free, they built a survival shelter before applying camouflage and then carefully sneaking past a sleeping guard to “steal” some food for their camp.
The final challenge was to light a campfire and cook their well-earned feast over the flames.
What looked like one big adventure was actually full of opportunities to develop communication, resilience, creativity and confidence through imaginative outdoor play.
Another fantastic day of learning, laughter and woodland magic at Charlotte’s Wood.

Day 1 of Wild Wood Holiday Club - a great opportunity to develop confidence and the ability to take emotional risks - holding spiders, getting muddy, using tools, cooking on a fire and balancing on a slack line ♥️

There really is no better way to learn about food hygiene than by getting hands-on outdoors.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of delivering the Level 2 Food Hygiene for the Outdoors course in beautiful Oxfordshire, hosted by Sarah at Where the Fruit Is.
The morning was spent exploring the principles of food hygiene through practical, active learning. We looked at everything from preventing cross-contamination and managing allergens to safe cooking temperatures and good hygiene practices, all in a way that was relevant to cooking and eating outdoors.
In the afternoon, participants put their learning into practice by planning, preparing and serving a delicious afternoon tea. Alongside the beautiful food came plenty of teamwork, problem-solving and discussion, demonstrating that good food safety doesn’t have to be complicated – it just needs thoughtful planning and good practice.
Thank you to Sarah for being such a wonderful host and to everyone who came along with such enthusiasm, curiosity and willingness to get involved. It was a joy to spend the day learning together.
