Lovely Leavers' Service yesterday to round off the school year. We wish all the best to our Y6 students as they start their new adventure.

We also said goodbye to school legend Carolyn Westerby (pic by Simon Pizzey). Carolyn has been school administrator for over 21 years, taking over from her mum who held the role for 34 years! Carolyn her sister and her children all attended Oakridge, so she and her family have been part of the fabric of the school for decades. She will be much missed and we wish her health and happiness in her retirement.

The summer term has been packed with activities. Recently, the whole school visited Weston Super Mare for a fun day out on the beach.

Special trips like this make lovely memories for pupils and teachers alike, and they are made possible by the money raised by the OSA. To all the parents and carers who roll up their sleeves and get stuck in, a huge thank you - your help is really appreciated.

Every time the Class 1 children achieve something special, they are awarded a gem, which goes in the Jolly Gem Jar. This could be for great singing, trying hard at PE or anything else where they have tried their best or excelled in some way.

When it's full, they vote on a special treat.

Last week it was full to the brim, so they all decided that Monday would be a pyjama day!

VE Day 2025 marks 80 years since Germany officially surrendered to the Allied powers, marking the end of the Second World War in Europe.

Oakridge held a very special VE Day celebration this afternoon, with parents, carers and members of the community invited along for a street party.

After a moving rendition of 'We'll meet again", the children served up tea, cakes, scones and even Spam sandwiches, all freshly made today by Class 2, while Class 1 were busy making decorations.

Posters are going up and the raffle tickets are flying off the shelves for Oakridge May Revels, our little school's biggest fundraising event.

This much-loved tradition is a brilliant day out for all ages and entry is free! Games, stalls, bouncy castle, facepainting, maypole dancing, live music and fabulous food and drink

If any locals, parents or carers are planning a spring clean over the bank holiday weekend, please save your books, toys, bric a brac or suitable tombola items for us, we'd love to take them off your hands! Thank you.

Mog, Harry Potter, Little Miss Trouble, Paddington, The Incredible Hulk, Fantastic Mr Fox, The Tiger Who Came To Tea... and many, many more favourite characters brought to life. Well done everyone for making such an effort, you all looked amazing.

One of our brilliant mums runs the allotment squad and she came up with the idea of running a treasure hunt big dig.

While parents helped get the allotment into shape after a long winter, the children enjoyed digging for buried treasure. Feels like spring is here. 🌞🌷
