Hey everyone! 👋🏼
For the last 6 weeks I’ve been travelling around South East Asia and although my trip is sadly coming to an end very soon, I’m looking forward to starting back with you all next week! My tutoring sessions will commence from Monday 22nd May with the same times as before I left. I look forward to seeing you all! 😀

It’s the shark & fish game! A bit like musical statues, when the music stops, they need to find a fish and answer the question on the back, e.g. 3 x 5. If they get the answer correct, they get to “eat” the fish, but if it’s incorrect, the fish goes back into the sea!

My pupils absolutely love this game. What’s great is that it can be adapted to teach anything, including reading and spelling. The possibilities are endless with fish!! 🐟🐠🐡

Who knew that kitchen tiles could help your child learn their times tables?! This is a fun, interactive way to learn the 5s and it helps children to see that we’re just adding 5 each time. The great news is that you can do this with any of the times tables! ✖️👩🏻‍🏫🤗

Co-author, Bethan Sennett, had her first author visit in a local primary school last week. She read ‘Don’t Eat Me!’ to the Reception classes and then the children acted out the story - they really enjoyed pretending to be the different animals! It was a great success and we’ve got lots of new Lemi fans! 🦎📚

👩🏻‍🏫 Learning how to divide! ➗

It’s really important to show the purpose of dividing before we ask children to learn division facts off by heart. Letting children explore with physical aids really help; you can do this by sharing out counters, uncooked pasta or even sweets to make it fun!

Thankfully, my mum has a large collection of egg cups, so my niece was able to divide nuts (her favourite snack!) into the egg cups to work out different calculations. This made the learning fun, although I think she’d say that the best part was eating the nuts! 😂

Welcome to ‘The Times Table Hotel’! This is a great activity to introduce children to times tables, to help them to understand what exactly they are and why we use them!

You can build a times table tower/hotel to learn any of the times tables. We “add a floor” each time and then work out how many windows/rooms there are in total, e.g. 4 floors x 2 rooms = 8 rooms altogether!
