🥉Regional Netball Finals Day🥉

Our senior netball team were in action yesterday against Annan B for the 3rd/4th place play offs. Annan started off strong with an early lead finishing 9-4 after the first quarter. The girls started to work together more and got into a flow and managed to pull away from Annan into the 3rd/4th quarter to secure the win. Final score - 26-19 to Stranraer.

Regional Cross Country Results 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏼🏃🏼‍♂️🏃🏻‍♀️

Well done to our 25 young runners who represented the school last week at the Regional Cross Country event in Dalbeattie.

Our S2 Girls and Senior Boys finished the team events in 1st Place, having the best 3 combined results, which is a fantastic achievement! 🏆🥇

This was also a first run out for our senior team in their new netball strips which are kindly sponsored by Rhins Educational Trust.

Regional Netball Results!

Well done to our young netballers Lucy Kelly, Anna McClelland, Bethany Siebenaler and Alexandria Thomson who recently represented Wigtownshire in the D&G Regional Netball Tournament held at Dumfries Academy.
The girls ended up with the silver medal after winning 4 out of 5 games, with the other Wigtownshire team winning the gold. Well done to Anna was also named player of the day for her team! Great effort girls!

Stranraer Academy 10 - 3 Douglas Ewart High School

Well done to the U15 boys who beat Douglas Ewart H.S. in their first match of the Hunter Shield yesterday afternoon. The boys will face Lockerbie, Kirkcudbright or Dumfries Academy in the Semi-Final in the coming weeks.

Girls Football - Spar 7’s National Qualifier

Well done to the Stranraer Academy U13-U16 girls who recently competed at the Spar 7’s National Qualifying round at Dumfries High School. The girls did very well to progress into the 3rd place playoff after finishing 2nd in their group. This was a great achievement especially considering that we fielded a young team where the majority were playing up an age group or two - and also without having a dedicated goalkeeper (thanks to Rose and Lucy for filling in!)
In the end, the girls were unfortunate not to claim 3rd place, after being beaten 5-0 by Annan Academy, who fielded a strong team of mainly S4 girls. The results were as follows.

Our super sports council are all set up with their two challenges at the Christmas Fair raising some money to support transport costs to sports events throughout the year.

The two challenges:

🏐 How many shots can you get in 30 seconds?

🎾 How many keepie uppies can you get on the rim of the tennis racquet in one go?

Bring your 💸 and come and have a go and get your name on the leaderboard - prize for the overall winner at the end of the night🤩
