Simply Cellos Simply Cellos is a unique 'cello shop as I specialise in renting or selling secondhand but high quality cellos that have been set up to perfection!

Bridges carved to fit, pegs fitted & expensive strings put on. Makes a huge difference to the sound! After leaving University, I worked as a professional freelance Cellist and ran a Music Agency (Musical Moments). I also have been teaching the cello since I was 17. I have taught at Warwick University, Solihull Sixth Form College, Winterfold House School, Elmfield Rudolf Steiner School, plus privately at home. I long ago became fed up with the awful cellos that pupils were bringing to their lessons. Most rental and sales shops send their cellos out straight from the manufacturer. The bridges and top nuts are set too high (making it hard for little fingers to press the strings down), the pegs often dont stay as they haven't properly fitted, and the strings are cheap factory ones. So I started to buy good quality secondhand cellos and have them properly set up, then change the strings to expensive, great quality ones. This really does make such a difference - both to the pupil playing the cello and to the parents listening to them practise! I became so passionate about it that I set up Simply Cellos, just renting out to pupils at the schools I taught at. Other cello teachers heard about what I do, and so Simply Cellos began to expand! I thought it was about time I expanded further and set up an actual shop, providing quality Cellos of all sizes and levels to both children and adults. I am very excited to send these lovely cellos on their way to new homes!

1/32 - yes, they really exist 😍

Even though they may be tiny, I have still had them set up by my excellent Luthier with the same care and attention as the larger Cellos.

The bridges are carved to the correct height to make sure the string action isn't too hard for little fingers

The top nuts (where the strings go over at the top) are also lowered and smoothed for the same reason

The Sound Posts (that carry the sound throughout the Cello) are properly positioned

The pegs are well fitted

Then, finally, I fit good quality strings 🤩

All of the above makes the Cellos play so much more easily for little fingers...and sound so much better...than your average rental Cello.

I have Beginner to Advanced levels of Cellos, all set up to perfection by my Luthier.

They also all have their strings changed to the ones that suit them the most, from Prelude, Larsen Aurora, Jargar, Jargar Evoke, Pirastro to Larsen and Larsen Magnacore.

It is in amazing condition, fitted with Larsen A D G and
Larsen Magnacore C to give it a balanced sound across all the strings.

It plays with such ease, your bow being drawn towards the bridge, yet has wonderful projection!

Faure's Pavane played on the beautiful Stohr Ilner Reidl 1982 Cello I currently have in stock

I have played around with so many different strings to find the perfect ones to create a balanced and amazingly resonant sound on this lovely cello.

I decided on Larsen Magnacore strings, which are one of my favourite strings for the higher level of Cello

This is a perfect instrument for an advanced player at Conservatoire, or for a professional Cellist.

This beautiful Handmade Cello by John Horton came back from the Luthier and was restrung on Wednesday.

I hadn't even had a chance to play it when a lovely customer (who came back to buy another cello!) saw it and asked to play it.

So I tuned it and had a quick play on it myself and her eyes lit up...as did mine!

Wow!

The sound it made was beautiful, powerful, and carried so well. It was also so easy to play.

Sadly for me she chose it and bought it. Happily for this lovely lady, she has a beautiful Cello to learn on 😁

One with history, that has never been played in the almost 30 years since it was made, and will sound better and better as it is played in 😍
