🥞✨ Happy Shrove Tuesday from Moorside High School! ✨🥞
Pancake Challenge!
📸
We’d love to see your best pancake creations — sweet or savoury, classic or creative!
👉 Pupils: send your photos to school via FB messenger or email to [email protected]
🥞
Let’s celebrate both the fun and the meaning behind the day.
✝️
Shrove Tuesday, the day before the Christian season of Lent begins. Traditionally, it was a time to use up rich ingredients like eggs, milk and sugar before a period of fasting — giving us the delicious pancake tradition we enjoy today!
🥞
In Religious Education at Moorside, students learn about Christian practices such as Lent, reflection and preparation, and how festivals and traditions connect to belief and community life. Shrove Tuesday is a great example of how faith shapes everyday customs that continue across cultures and generations.

🌟 Half-Term Library Adventures 🌟
Looking for something free, fun, and inspiring this half term? Why not visit one of our fantastic local libraries and let your child get lost in a world of stories and adventure
📚✨
From picture books to page-turning novels, libraries are the perfect place to discover new favourites — and borrowing books is a wonderful way to support reading at home and school. Books borrowed from the library can absolutely be used as part of your child’s school equipment and reading too
👍
At Moorside High School, we encourage students to Engage with reading and Achieve their very best — and libraries are a brilliant way to support both at home.

❤️🌟 Valentine’s Day at Moorside High School 🌟❤️
Today marks Valentine’s Day — traditionally a time to celebrate love. At Moorside, we like to think of this as an opportunity to celebrate something just as important: kindness, respect and community.
🌟
Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be about romance — it can be about appreciating friendships, supporting one another, and showing gratitude to the people who make our school such a positive place to be
💬❤️
Our REACH values remind us what really matters:
🤝 Respect – treating everyone with kindness
📚 Engage – being present and supportive
🏆 Achieve – helping each other succeed
🏫 Community – looking out for one another
💪 Hard Work – encouraging others to do their best
This weekend, let’s celebrate by showing appreciation, offering encouragement, and choosing kindness — because strong communities are built on everyday acts of care.
🌟

❤️Children's mental health week - kindness🌟
Kindness creates belonging.
🌟
Holding a door open, checking in on a friend, including someone at lunch — these small actions help make Moorside a place where everyone feels welcome. The photos shows are examples of pupils showing kindness - speaking at a church service, cheering on at sports day, supporting a cake sale, etc!
🌟
At Moorside High School, our REACH values — Respect, Engage, Achieve, Community and Hard Work — help shape the way we treat each other every day. Being kind isn’t just a nice idea… it’s something that helps make Moorside a place where everyone feels welcome, valued and supported
🌟
Kindness comes in many forms — saying hello in the corridor, offering help in class, including someone at lunchtime, or simply listening when someone needs to talk. Small actions like these strengthen our community and show respect for one another, and that goes a long way in supporting everyone’s wellbeing.
Let’s challenge ourselves today to do one kind thing for someone else.
